Older fellows still doing originals

Was just curious. Who is still playing, writing, composing, producing, recording or gigging originals.

I've seen some just get older and bail out of the music scene, seen some just move to covers. Seen some just quit all together. But how many over the hill, are still in an active original outfit?

Feel free to drop some links. Always in search for some new. Especially from (don't take this the wrong way) older guys or gals.

I recently got together with my old band from college and recorded about 6 songs - we haven't played together, other than one-off gigs, in 25 years.

One band I am in throws some originals in with covers, and the other plays jazz, where the line blurs between cover and original.

I'm in my mid-50's and don't gig anymore, but have always been writing and recording originals. My output has slowed in recent years, but I'm still at it.

One band I play in is made up of 3 retired gentlemen and myself(who is still trying to get a proper job), we play mostly originals and gig pretty regularly.

is 35 old? i can pass for my 20's BUT I really feel old with the kids I play with sometimes.

I gig, record & write originals. not sure how much longer I can do it though. every originals band has dreams of making it & I already tried that!

Still play original music and its all i will ever play.

I don't know if 38 is old, but my main band is all originals, probably the best I've had the pleasure of playing with in many years.

I've done cover bands in the past several years and made good money and gigged regularly doing it, but it wasn't fun for me; I didn't start playing music to do covers. Beaked Whale doesn't make tons of cash and gigs for originals bands aren't too thick on the ground in the capital region of NYS, but we do well enough. It's actually kind of nice, because we're all too old to be "rock stars," so there are few ego clashes or personality conflicts or band politics or any of that other stuff I used to put up with involved...it's just a great place to be for me right now.

I don't think so. But I know of some friends that just don't feel like doing it anymore. All for their own reasons.

My band is all originals and all guys past 55 except for the drummer in his forties. All the Swampadelic tunes on my YouTube channel ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-1yv2PfyF8QPpKtel8LQjQ ) are originals recorded over several weeks at our every Monday night residency at the Free Man Cajun Cafe in Dallas.
