OMG, a Flying V Bass!

I couldn't find one in 34 inck scale..so I built my own.
No neck dive!!! it is big though.
I put the jack under the top wing so the cord would not hang down near the knobs.Perfect for running wireless.All of the routs were done underneath than capped.No pickguard for a clean look...
It's a killer with Barts.

The Flying V is not for everyone...but they sure get attention when you bring them out.

I'd like to make one because I can't find one for a decent price, except the Dean one, and I'd like a red one with a white pickguard. Did you build the neck, too?

Didn't read everything yet so don't know if it was mentioned yet that in Entwistle's book "Bass Culture", he has a photo of a white Gibson Flying V that he didn't know existed until apparently he paid a fortune for it at auction. When he went to have it refinished, he discovered that it and the white Explorer bass he also purchased was counterfeit.

Just a fun fact that probably isn't pertinent to the discussion ;)

A Flying V is actually VERY comfortable to play sitting down. The most comfortable for me actually. I have four of 'em and no, this isn't me

It's a personal thing. Having to play in classical position 100% of the time I'm sitting would suck for me. Also, on a bass the neck would sticking out a lot more, I don't think it would be as comfortable as a v guitar.

So I just had this taken pic just now. The Ibanez V is one of THE most stable basses I have played standing up. (It is OK to play sitting down too, if you position it between your legs as some others have said.)
The Epi has a lighter body and does neck dive a bit.

Tinypic wants to rotate the photo 90 degrees, but you get the drift.
