"On my bathroom scale"

I recently sold a bass and I didn’t put a weight in the ad until I kept getting asked about the weight. I told them I can weigh it on a bathroom scale if you want that. Of course the answer was yes.

I agree that if you don’t have the means to weigh it accurately then there is no point in listing a weight at all. As a buyer, if the ad lists a bathroom scale weight I take it for what it’s worth. Not much.

Part of the problem is with how bathroom scales rely on two feet (or at least a relatively wide impression) upon them. If you place a bass guitar on them, that weight is concentrated on a point, and I find bathroom scales are very inaccurate in those cases. If you are going to use a bathroom scale, weigh yourself holding the bass, and again without the bass, and subtract to see the difference.

They're just being lazy.

Or they simply don't know.
