One Bass Player You Think Is Underrated?

All awesome, especially Mike Mills of R.E.M!
He is especially underrated which is ridiculous because R.E.M has some awesome bass lines!
Man, Mike is awesome, I just finished watching that R.E.M special on VH1 which was pretty good.
But it really made me think about how underrated Mike Mills is, and also how intelligent the man is too!
That's Jamareo Artis, he was on P. Diddy's making the band!
I don't remember if he made it, but i think he did because he was crazy good!
Glad to see him playing again, especially when I saw him on SNL with Bruno, sounded great!
His story was pretty sad, but I'm glad to see he made it and now is playing for a living!

Haha I was probably around 12 or 13 when I first saw him on there, and I was like WOW!
I was so fascinated by the bass that I totally dropped learning the drum set a few months later and bought a cheap precision bass.
Looking back, I am actually quite glad I dropped the drums because I find the bass to be a better fit for me.

This dude is crazy good, this is what you call "highly" skilled.
This is a perfect example of why Gospel bass players are so great, they make everything sound great!
Your right, he is so humble when it comes to bass!
Even when you read his bass policy, I can tell he's more about having fun with it, rather than trying to be the best, which is what bass playing is all about or should be about.
You're right, he does seem humble, and I really like his general attitude which is basically "Be yourself".

That's what us as bassists need to hear, I mean it gives me hope that someday I could make it as a bassist by just playing the way I play or someone else playing the way they play, it's awesome!
He probably fits the tag "under recognized" better than "underrated" but Ricky Boyer of "Assorted Jelly Beans" wrote so really fun bass lines. If you've never heard them and you like punk/ska, do yourself a favor and check them out!
