Multiple great basses and amps, cabs and effects. Hell give me some carrots too. Life is short. Live it up!

This is an interesting thread. I’m really surprised with the results so far. 2 to 1 in favor of multiple good basses. For me it’s not even close - one great bass. I know myself. If I had multiple good basses, I’d always be disappointed that I didn’t have a great bass, which I could have had if I didn’t buy all those good basses.
Fellow TBers,
I've been eyeing a EBMM Stingray for a while. But to pay for the MM I would need the sell my Lakland Skyline DJ4 and G&L L2000 tribute.
Would you rather have one great bass or multiple good basses (in terms of sound build quality)? IMO the Lakland and G&L are good basses.
Knowing what I do about MusicMan quality I would buy it.
But you really should make sure of which Stingray you want. The 2 band sounds different than 3 band . Then there is the Old Smoothie to consider. I happen to favor the 2 bands and the Old Smoothie is a great tone .
But it does beg the question of what a 'great bass' even is. Expensive? I have a couple expensive ones. I'd gladly trade em for the $200 bass I played from 1981-2006 when it was stolen. That was a great bass for me![]()

versatility is not really a strong point of the EBMM Ray compared to other basses<<SNIP>>
The way I got multiple good basses was by thinking I was buying that one great bass over and over...Fellow TBers,

Multiple GREAT basses is my goal. I need both fretted AND fretless basses in BOTH 4 and 5 string iterations (and hopefully 6ers too) as well as a good Upright (got it) and a 6 string which I don't own yet.
love many women and only 1 or 2 bass guitars..
