One Strap per bass or one for multiple?

I have a separate strap for each (with shaller strap locks). I have seen guys show up with their instrument, only to find that they left the strap on another guitar/bass> also you may have the strap length different for each bass.

There is a company called hogjim that has a unique easy on/off locking rubber slide system and you can remove the strap in a second. I think the leather ones are not available any longer but the webbed material is. It's pretty cool. $25. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Having a good strap is often overlooked. I can't say I've had any good experiences with players who would forget straps or cables. As simple as it is, not having a strap is an indicator of someone's inattention to detail.

I change basses frequently. I managed to buy 8 new/used bass comfort straps made by Planet Waves from ebay for $16 or something. Every bass has its own strap with Dunlop strap locks. Don't fool around, be fully equipped. Once when I was younger and foolish, I showed up to play a wedding. To my horror, I forgot to move the bass strap to the hard Fender case I toted at the time. What did I do? I found a white table cloth to rip to a semblance of a strap. I made knots as best I could. I got through the gig, didn't drop the bass (that was subsequently stolen, a true story and lesson for another time). The table cloth strap, met its purpose but was unusual to use and witness. Learned my lesson then. Be prepared. Bring everything you will need to the gig....Forget having one strap. Would you squeak by with one pair of pants?
