Only $2,000 to improve your amp's performance

No, you misunderstand my comment. When someone performs a A/B test, and the test taker is aware that item A is a run-of-the-mill item and B is a "professional-grade" item, their eyes are likely to trick their ears to thinking they hear something they don't.

You're right(and no I'm not being sarcastic).

actually, I made it a point to stare at the opposite wall when the cords were being switched, so that it was in fact a blind test. One that I expected to fail by the way, the reason we did it was I told Jauqo I thought it was bull. If I had a bias it was a negative bias.

And If anyone would like my opinion I would offer that the difference is there, however, unless your playing a high quality bass through a high quality cable into a high quality amp, just use whatever. If you are using high quality equipment go to a local electronic store and buy the best off the shelf cable you can. However if you are making money by playing music, if you need to sound better than the other guy $150.00 is small money.
I don't know what to tell you other than I did hear a difference, if you want to believe that Jauqo somehow forced a thought in my head, whatever, I was there...

Now we are to believe that musicians are losing gigs because they use the wrong power cord......

A significant number of the working musicians around here are using fender basses through ampeg stacks. Hardly the pinnacle in hi-fi tone. A guy with a boutique bass and an overpriced power cord could really make a killing. ;$

wow guys way to twist words, If the music thing doesn't work out I would suggest politics! I'm done arguing, so I guess you win.
It turns out even though I didn't know what cord was being used and though I heard a difference there was none. (If you don't believe me just ask someone who wasn't there)
and tone doesn't make a difference anyway.

Welcome to TalkBass! :hiding: Should I buy food this month or renew my support to this forum.....hmmmm. ;)

I'll take ears, eyes and power cords for $100 Alex!

now i remember you! there was a discussion about this a year ago and you basically said the same stuff and got all mad then, too ;)

hey, you can't blame people for their skepticism. and you can't say your words are being twisted, because you said that $150 to give you a leg up on the competition is a small price to pay. thing is, there is no proof of this cord working to anyone but a handful of people who say they heard a difference. and let's face it, there is no cord on earth that will give you a leg up on the competition, even if it does work.

I have an open mind, but not so open my brains fall out.

Semantics and marketing steer manure are the tools of the trade when the merits itself cannot stand on their own(diet pills, water miracle filtration, 1500$ vacuum cleaners, etc). Maybe it's a lack of testing abilities?

There's quackery and examples of products in every market. This might be, might not be. I really do not know. At this cost, I'm not about to pay to find out. I think most are in the same boat as I. So if they wanna convince folks:

They could test the product in a number of ways to fairly answer some questions. A double blind test, where neither the person playing or the person testing knows which is which would be best. And not just 1-2 people, they will need a large comparative group to get any consensus. Say 20-30 people that play bass at various levels. A nice random sample.
You also need something as a reference to compare the results to. So several other similar devices and no device used should be done for the test.

Signal data could also be used to illustrate differences etc.
Heck, something other than Bubbawhoeverbassist saying "I like it and makes me sound better"

I have to question the basic premise, is there a need for this product? Does it make it easier, better sounding etc? Is that difference worth the cost trade off? Could something say 1/10th the cost do within a 90% range, the same thing? .

Who came up with this companies business plan? I'd rather sell life insurance or used cars(sorry if you do, those are tough gigs).

Few are going to impulse buy one these. So it's up to the maker to offer much much more than what I've seen. Now a simple surge or line conditioner for 100$ or less, might be.......

Without answering these issues, there's little to debate. It's not about the results of what the product can/cannot do.
It becomes a who can yell louder and make better wise cracks game.

Don't let it bother you man. I also dared to suggest that IMO/IME I too heard a difference with the MusicCord Pro over a standard power cord and was pummeled endlessly in this thread - though in no way beaten! ;)

I was hoping to get a blind a/b test completed several weeks back, but that was postponed due to conflicts in schedules. I do plan to follow through in the near future, and will be happy to report both the methodology and results to this group for analysis. I'm doing this for myself because I did hear a difference and I am wondering if I can somehow measure it. Ultimately though, the only way the results will be accepted by the majority of naysayers here is if I report back that the cable was a total failure. Any other result, no matter how carefully it was obtained, will be insufficient. They will find any number of arguments to punch holes in the test, and will declare that it was ultimately flawed due to obvious "believer" bias.

You cannot win with this group so don't even try. Heck, many even suggested that both Victor Wooten and Adam Nitti (who have stated they heard a difference and use the product) are tone-deaf, tin-eared shysters who will say anything for a free-bee. Hilarious.

Look - I appreciate everyone's respectful opinion, but until you have used the product, your suppositions, no matter how scientifically backed, are nothing more than conjecture.

vic mixes 410's with 115's, so his hearing is already suspect ;)
