Opinions requested on Artsy speaker grill mod.

My wife is an artist and I love her work. I made a copy of my favorite painting and made a speaker grill out it. I took it to practice the other night and the band members said it was cool, but their reactions were more mild than I expected. Of course, I probably expected too much from a couple of old rockers.

Can you see something like this on stage? If so, what would your reaction be?

When I was making the frame for this one, I thought it would be cool to have several and swap them out. Maybe a less dramatic painting might be better received. IDK.

It's a beatiful painting of what appears to be a young woman/girl (perhaps of a family member or friend?) but as a 50 plus year old man I personally would be a little uncomfortable displaying that image out of context to an unknown audience in today's social climate. Or your band mates might think it doesn't quite reflect the style of music you are playing or general image of the band? Or maybe they just don't appreciate the visual arts as keenly as yourselves? Or a combination of the above plus other reasons?

It is a great painting and your wife clearly has talent, but most people like backline to look functional. Weird really given the way a lot of guitarists go for tweedy coverings and vintage speaker cloth etc, but there ya go...

Maybe it's just a perceived band image thing.
