Any unhappiness with the fixed mid frequency?
Always welcome a mid cut/boost control with adjustable frequecny as well
Typicaly British what with mounting the input jack and power switch "backwards" on the front panel; would have expected nothing less.

Does it really give the full 500 watts with 8 ohm's ?

Well, used it in anger tonight at a rehearsal and this thing is a MONSTER. Those 500w are available right from the get go, I had the Active/Passive switch set to Active, gain at 12 oclock and master volume at 1 and I was getting complaints about how loud I was!

Incredible. SERIOUS amps of boom, and to be honest I'm slightly nervous I might kill my Eden with this!

DI would appear to be POST EQ which is good news.

And yes, the 500w is into 8 or 4 ohms, makes no odds apparently! Although I am unable to test this as I have a 4 ohm cab.

The Line 6 I'm using atm at rehearsal can't pull it even on mids only so it'll be a huge improvement volume and tonewise I guess

The Terror Bass has a DI, which is HUGE since my band plays out a lot and you never know if the sound-guy will be an @$$ about micing my cabinet...they all seem to really prefer DI...

It's a whole different argument, but a lot of people subscribe to the theory that you should look to have amplifiers that are more powerful than the ratings for the speakers. This might sound odd, but the theory is that if you use your ears, you're less likely to kill a speaker by overpowering it than you are underpowering it and clipping your amps.

Gigged the Terror last night. Weird shaped room and very echoey, but it sounded SUPERB, thick, warm and punchy. Easily enough power!

I was thinking about getting the Orange 1x15 cab but the power rating is only 400 watts, would this head blow it out?

I haven't even needed to turn up to halfway with my venues that I have played with mine through the orange 410.

Its likely that you will be fine, your band mates will probably shout at you to turn down before you damage the speaker.

If in doubt though, send an email to orange. In my experience they are great with their customer communication.

Hey guys, first timer here. i am finally looking at upgrading some of my rig and the first thing im looking at is a decent head. reading this review has helped me HEAPS in deciding that i do want the Orange Bass Terror.

one question though - someone mentioned that it would only sound good through a decent cab - i have a Peavey 410TVX (8ohms) and happy with the sound im currently getting from my behringer POC... do you think this head will be ok in the cabinet? from memory it was a 350 Watts continuous, 700 Watts program.

Its not going to blow the cabinet?

this is interesting to me, if it can really put out "it feels like 500 watts" without going into Big Overdrive.

example: the mesa walkabout feels plushy, fat tubey without having to have nasty ugly (to me) gritty overdrive.

if this can do fat and sassy, and still stay pretty clean while adding harmonic content, i think it'd be kewl. I think it's scenic, for sure! dig the clean layout and simple true to form orange colors and all...

I had the opportunity to sit down and play with the Bass Terror, in my G.A.S list, it sits near the top of it.

Simple, clean, and small. Right from the get go, I felt that I got 500 watts with no distortion. Lots of head room for a warm yet punchy sound. My personal favorite thing about the bass terror is that all of the dials are CLEARLY marked and it takes less than a second to get familiar with the amp.

I was very impressed. Sounded just fantastic running through an orange 4x10.

A couple of units trickled into Southern California stores this weekend, and I snatched mine up. ++1 on the review. I matched mine with an Orange 115 cab and my trusty Lakland Dunn PJ went from tone to TONE

Trouble is, with the wife and kid at home, I haven't been able to give it a real extended run above 1 vol/1 gain, and even then I have to keep the volume knob on my bass turned down, and my fingers very light. No head-pounding, finger-tearing stank for me.

Yet.
