Wrong. In Briton it is so heavily back ordered that they are holding off opening up other markets (like Canada) to fill the back orders.

Orange "O" Bass?? Opinions?

True about the short scale. But all those P basses out there look like a Fender. I am the first say the P bass sound is tops. But I do not want to walk onto a club stage with the same bass the last 1000 guys had when they played there.Well, since you asked for opinions, I will say this, I think they missed the mark in that there enough P basses in the world but very few, if any, are short-scale. I was really jazzed when I first saw them but that went to meh very quickly when I discovered it was a 34" scale. Got a P certainly don't need this. Probably would have bought if it was a 30" scale FWIW, but, oh well . . .

LOLOh, c'mon......how can so many people dislike the color "Creamsicle"??!!!I think it's distinctive, and for all I care, it could have had jazz, mudbucker or SCPB pickup(s) on it, and I would still like it. Actually, I'm considering finding a used one, and possibly fitting it with either a leftover Peavey T40 humbucker, or a Guild "Bisonic" repop. I think that would definitely put it in an individual class. Aside from color, that is!
I still think blue jeans are hideous.

Sure why not. Squier Vintage Modified Jazz or Precision, Squier Classic Vibe Jazz or Precision. All around 450. The Epiphone Classic Pro Thunderbird at 499.00 is close enough to toss in the mix. Also any used USA Peavey from the late 70's through the 90's is also a great option.
I think its okay. Looks like a bass designed by guitar players though. Les Paul shape doesnt work for basses for me. I play guitar more than bass (much more) for reference.
The new basses you mentioned are Fender's and Gibson's 'dumbed down' models cheap clones of the original models and every 'Pro' knows this. The O bass for better or worse is an 'original'. I would not be a tiny bit surprised that a big time Pro had one in his collection. But if he were to buy a Gibson or Fender he would have the real thing.
If you are an ameteur no problem. You ego is small. Me...it would be a real problem to go on stage with those basses. My head is far too big.
Trust me. I know a lot of Brit's that are big time players. Really nice guys too. But like me they think the sun shines out their butt. LOL

In the 60's the biggest selling bass was a Hohner that looked just like the O Bass sunburst one. Vox also did one.
I believe there is a Gretsch bass too. In fact many musicians probably thought that the Les Paul looked like a bass at that time. The Les Paul was discontinued because of very low sales in '59. What guitarist wanted a guitar that looks like a bass. LOL

I guess I'll be one of them, lol, saw the recent review posted on premier guitar, and I thought it was cool af.
The reviewer spoke highly of it, with a touch of "at this price", and the video review also sounded excellent.
I think they went with a funky look on purpose, to get away from the standard vibe of fender clones. And Kudos to them for that, though it probably means they'll sell less. They are clearly not looking for the mainstream P and J players.
I'd give it a shot if I came across one in the wild. Or better yet, wait a year and roll the dice on a used one for about $350. It just looks fun.

Orange O Bass Review | Premier Guitar
I've had mine for a few weeks now, got it as a back up bass for a show and planned on letting it go after. I assumed I'd try it feel like it was just a slightly inferior p bass compared to my others but now the time has come to part with it and I'm having trouble doing so. It seems to be finding a place between my 72 & FSR am std p basses. I've got flats on it just like my other 2 p basses and the tone is different in a nice way, it's very present and punchy more aggressive, it cuts through the mix very well. It might not have the same heavy low end as my AM STD but it's certainly not lacking just more driven in the mids and to be honest it's a touch clearer. If I was a straight rock player i could see the o bass being my daily driver easily.
Now if I have to let 1 bass go yes it'll be the o bass but only compared to my favorite 2 basses that I've ever played which have beaten out lots and lots of other more expensive basses than this o bass. In fact if I had it years ago my search might have ended sooner....well maybe, gas is gas.lol I can also say compared to any squier I've owned which is a lot there wouldn't even be a contest IMHO
I certainly feel more comfortable with this as my back up bass at longer shows than either of the other ones(just speaking in terms of having my most expensive gear all with me at gigs usually isnt my style).
I get the looks not appealing to everyone but there's plenty of guitars and basses that look very unusual so I don't think Orange did anything outrageous by trying to give it a little different look. Anyways fun bass to play that sounds good to me for not a lot of money...still feeling like a win
I'd definitely have to look at one if there was a shorty version. The four extra inches of wood in the neck makes it a nogo for me.
