Orange Tiny Terror Bass (Pic!)

My guitarist gigs with the all tube guitar version of this.Only 15 watts,but really loud,and sounds great. For all you "tube only" folks,I'd give it a listen before poor mouthing it.

exactly. one of the big appeals of the TT guitar was that it was ALL tube. still, it's probably a decent amp. i seem to recall the pics on NAMM indicating that there was an effects loop and that it was made in Korea.

I'm a big fan of the guitar version of this. A pity it's not all tube but I think they had to face the economic reality that if they want this to be their consumer level bass head- they had to make it a practical workhorse at 500 watts.

I'm assuming they will want it to sit with the tone of its tube bretheren, not the 'Orange Crush' line. Hence: in anticipation.

SURE I'll give it a trial with an open mind, but I woukld LOVE to bve pleasantly surprised & it sounded BETTER than other hybrids-which aint my cup o' tea!

Ooooh...definitely like to check this one out. I checked their website and its not in the product line yet. Orange bass amps have always filled a unique niche of all-tube, 100-200W heads with absolutely crushing volume and sweet vintage vibe and grit. This seems like a big departure for them but I guess it would be hard to sell bassists a low wattage amp, especially when it's not all-tube.

I wouldn't buy an amp named tiny anything and expect to gig with it outside a coffee house. A 50-100w tube head with a 15in ext cab would be a dream in a recording studio IMO.

The guitarist in my band plays the guitar version. It is one of the best tube amps out there for the money imho. I believe it would be physically impossible to make an all tube bass amp in this small of a form factor that would produce a decent volume level. High wattage tube amps equal big heavy transformers.

This is probably something that is similar in size/weight to the guitar version and can keep up with it volume wise. I for one will certainly check it out.

Of course it would certainly be cool if they made a low wattage all tube bass amp that was aimed at recording/home practice.

a lotta hybrid hatred from a lotta people that haven't even seen this amp, nevermind heard it. not all hybrid amps sound like swr or hartke... my ashdown abm 500 (hybrid) can easily hang with a 70s SVT or an Orange 200B tonally. i'm interested to hear this little sucker...

It will be interesting to find out which OEM supplier made the power amp section of it. Guaranteed it's not built by Orange, but just a module they built into their package with their preamp. There's nothing wrong with that, either, I'm just curious whose it is.

On the one hand I agree that not all hybrid heads suck, but OTOH far more of them are disappointing IMO than pleasing. Depends on what you like, however there are many of them I don't like.

I didn't say I HATED hybrids- just that they aint ME!!!!! Jeeeeezzz some ppl take things to extremes!!!!! CHILL!
I know all hybrids don't sound the same- I actually LIKED the Hartke & some SWR -also liked Ampeg SVT3PRO, Ashdown... & a cuppla others. But NOT as MUCH as a all tube amp. hence me saying what I did! All I said was I probly wouldn"t get one, & I also said I'd approach it w/ an open mind. No HATE there- not that I meant or can see!
the Ashdown ABM is one of the best sounding hybrids IMO, but ALSO IMO, I don't think it sits with the SVT-well not my SVTII -or my V4 anyway- as far as tone- well MAYBE tone,,, but NOT feel!!! THIS IS ALL IMO of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it does sound cool & IS CHEAP Out here in OZ then I could see meself doin that. Altho my LMII is that atm. Tho a Hartke LH500 could do that too

Damn, I was dreaming of an all-tube 50 watt Tiny Terror for bass. My dream come true in only 50% But still it sounds very interesting. Price is 450 pounds, so it's not much comparing to other amps (here in EU of course).

Agreed. There aren't enough low powered, affordable, all valve amplifiers designed for bass guitar around.

I'm sure that the Terror Bass will be a good head, though, and that it will fly off the shelves. But personally, I'll probably pass.
