To be fair, it’s his bass and not ours. It doesn’t really matter if we like it or not.

For real. We should all work hard enough to have modulus build us a bass by our goofy design.

Without that unicorn horn, not only would severe neck dive be an issue, but the reach to first position would be like 4 feet!

Definitely not a Fender, but I’m not so sure I like my strings that close to the edge of the fingerboard.

I’m guessing there’s black binding that makes them seem closer to the edge than they really are, but it is a custom bass. His technique might make it a non issue.

Could be as you said with the black binding, but if it isn’t, it would definitely be a problem with my technique.

Modulus had an earlier 'Oteil bass', too.
Semi-hollow body, IIRC.

Doesn't matter what he plays...Oteil played around here in the '80s with a stock Fender Jazz. Sounded great.

Given he's also wearing what appears to be a variety of dashiki, I think we're looking at a wealth of expressive symbolism in the design: he himself has Egyptian heritage. I'm all for letting it shine.

It looks like the bass has been constructed from a toilet seat painted purple. Modulus has made some beautiful instruments and this isn't one of them in my humble opinion.

It looks extremely cumbersome and goofy. I rather liked his old Q6, pictured above. He is a top player though, and can play this showpiece if he wants.
