overdrive/fuzz quest part 2

just finished boxing up another one. the Skreddy Supa Tone. It's basically a modded big muff but more bass friendly with lower gain/fuzz and a wider range of tone.

I made mine with all of the controls mounted externally.

on the current one with the internal trimpots, one of them is labeled 'voice' and the other 'clip'.
the voice trimpot adjustes the intensity of the external scoop control, so if you adjust if for more scoop, it can have a ton of low end.

I am impressed you were able to build one, the circuit looks really complicated and has tons of components.

Way Huge did the same thing you did earlier this year, they released this pedal with a smaller form factor and external trim pots. Cool graphic as a bonus too.

just finished up a Nobels ODR-1 and it sounds awesome. (it can be very transparent and no gain, low gain medium gain and high gain), with no low end loss.

these are found on a lot of pro's pedal boards and are a relatively cheap to buy at $109 (way more than worth it!).

I wanted to build my own because, while the circuit's build is very good, they are not true bypass, & I've heard that the original's pots feel a little flimsy.

it was a pretty tight fit, but I managed to get it into a 1590B.

I just read through this whole thread. Amazing.
That Orange Bass Preamp looks like it would be pretty sweet. Ever try a Pigtronix Bass Fat Drive? My newest purchase in the quest to find an Ampeg/Tube type pedal. Got a lot of info from this thread. Cheers

I think you should create a whole line of Swollen Pickle variants. You should call the next one "Engorged Kosher Dill." Or maybe "Tumescent Cornichon."

I just finished up this one and I really dig it, the Earthquaker Devices White Light. it's based on a DOD 250/MXR Distortion+, but that's where the similarity ends since it really sounds nothing like them (IMO, way, way way, better!). it uses half of an LM883N chip instead of an LM741 and has a unique pre-gain weight control circuit that adds a ton of bass to a pedal that isn't deficient in the low end department to begin with. the comp switch adds four more germanium diodes to the asymmetrical silicon ones in the circuit that adds more distortion and compression.
i'll try to post a sound clip of it soon.

Hi John!

I have this question which had me second thoughts on buying a new pedal. Is it redundant to stack two transparent overdrive pedals? And is also possible to have a sum-of-all-parts tone by combining the two?
Im looking at your barbershop clone to be combined with wampler euphoria.

with quite a few hours experimentation , I just 'created' another one of my own. it's basically a blend of a couple of circuits starting with a modified OCD V4, but using a different Jfet opamp, slightly different gain and overdrive filtering, has the V4's mosfet and germanium clipping, but with an added baxandall treble & bass tone stack instead of just a tone control. I'm really digging this one. i'm calling it the 'Atlantis Overdrive', and I hope to have it mounted in its enclosure later tonight.

For sale?!?!? I like anything OCD'ish.
