Thanks! I bought it new.. '05 model Highway One actually (pre-redesign). That's the original colour (although it is duller in person and you can see just a bit of grain through it), added the pearl guard and chrome covers and it seemed to bring her personality out a bit.

Oh, and that's not a switch/button where the volume knob was.. it's simply the pot where the volume knob was. It fell off and I just haven't replaced it yet.

I am pretty sure Candy Apple red was available in '57. Duck Dunn played a '57 in Candy Apple. There is a picture of a CAR '57 in the 50th P-Bass anniversary Bass Player as well. It looks great with the gold guard too!

I have to take some Pics of my new Fender 50's Classic P-bass... I play it more than any of my other basses. For the price of one of these, you can not go wrong!!

I just got myself a P (middle 80's MIJ) its was my dream to have one since I saw JET in a live concert (62 reissue simply gorgeous) so here it is

also I'm planning to change give it a "Vintage" touch, maybe I change its color, or just the pickguard and adding some covers like this

I just got finished with some upgrades and updates to my Highway 1. I switched the white pickguard out for a black-white-black one. I put a bridge cover and thumb rest on. The pickup cover is on its way. I changed the neckplate. The stock pickup was swapped out for a '62 RI. The stock tuners were swapped out for a set of vintage Hipshots with a Bass Xtender. I couldn't be happier with everything. The bass looks and sounds great!

I'm considering installing a set of '62 RI pickups on mine. In your opinion is there much difference between those and the original HW1 pickups?

I wasn't planning on switching pickups, but did so on the advice of a friend. I think that they make a big difference. The tone was so much meatier, if you know what I mean. The sound seems so much more distinct. If definitely holds up better in my band. I didn't tell all of the members, and after the first song at practice, they asked me what I had done to the bass because it sounded so much better. IMO it is a great upgrade.
