wow, those pole pieces are really high up! There's pickups like that? I've never seen that before.

Yet another SX innovation. They don't sound amazing out of the box... but they're really not that bad. Someone did a blind comparison thread a while back between stock SX precision pups and an authentic '78 precision and it was a relatively even split as to people's favorites. That's gotta say something. :hiding:

..

It has a badass bridge, hipshot tuners, hipshot tree, hipshot knobs, GHS tapewounds, Seymour duncan 1/4 pounder, and Dimarzio black pickguard screws.

...oh yes, and it's BEAD tuned, and the second knob is a villex passive rotary tone booster

Here's a sound-byte (I understand that the pictures my pocket PC takes, aren't very good. My sister broke the good camera). :bawl:

Hey meev992 :) !

That sounds pretty sweet, man. Unmistakeably P Bass-like, but with a good dose of "upright twang" and a surprisingly "dark and sinister" side to it (unless that was just the effect of the riff that you were playing ;)).

Also, as I'm the only person here who's never heard Pete Wentz or his band play, I can't say that his name is much of a handicap for me :p.

I wonder what your bass would sound like with Rotosound rounds on, BTW :hmm:? Face-melting, is the term that springs to mind :D.

All the best,

Andy

hey, thanks so much for the review/critique! Tony, owner of the local shop, was surprised by the "upright" vibe that he felt. Especially with the low action, and thunderous B string.

Face-melting eh? I'll take your word for it...It's just that I have this Obsessive-compulsive thing about touching bare-metal bass strings :(

They do give you finger cancer, that's true :hmm:.

;)

I like it the way it sounds now, anyway. It might be a bit "too much" with s/s strings on, I think.

The new photos are a big improvement too :smug:.

hahha, i hate camera batteries, they never work when you need them the most!

And I also love the sound, as it is. Perhaps i'll take your rotosound recommendation, on my beater bass (as that will not have tapewounds, and is for my slapping).

I think i just manage to squeeze in at the lower end of the P-bass scale with my new HW-one P.

Best P I've layed my hands on. I'm a believer in the one-piece maple neck, sans fretboard. The notes leap off the fretboard and the low Ab-low F range on the Estring has a lot more clarity than the rosewood P's I've owned. Next step is to add the TI jazz flats I have on the way!!!!! That and I might get a wild hare to drop a Nordstrand Pickup in there for kicks. Glad to be back in the club. Next step, Sadowsky P5!!!!

yeah but in the world of bassplaying your still a right handed player....

Not really, but whatever you want to believe :D

Like I said earlier, I'm not the only lefty who considers a right handed bass, in which the left hand is responsible for note choice and phrasing, to in fact be the best choice for a left-handed person. John Pattitucci and Sting are actually of the same opinion, as they have both stated in interviews. If you have some sort of consensus and/or access to the viewpoints of every breathing bassist on this planet, than I bow to that sort of power!! :D

Back to the pbasses!
