They are a part of the competition however they are not unknown to industry or the judges,for instance Tim Rains toured with Keysha Cole and Rob Lewis put together at least one of her touring bands so it's safe to say that Rob knows who he is and what his skills are. IMO I feel that the cattle call auditions were to make good TV and to create a buzz about the show. I know for a fact that there were some invitations extended for some of the players and they didn't have to wait in line.

Having watched both episodes, Jamero won't last, the have a couple of more accomplished bassists in the wings and haven't really shown them playing much and the tip off is that they have indicated that he has time issues but he's a nice kid with a good story.

I don't know how long the girl, Joy, on drums will last but again I kind of see how the show is developing there will be some kind of drama or something and she'll be going home.

Brockett is good, has chops but as the guy said int he first episode, it's all about the context, I don't see him lasting.

IMO and all that. :D

I cought the show for the first time by accident a few days ago. I thought it was pretty interesting. Some of the musicians were very good some were ok but not ready for a gig of this caliber. It's clear that being able to play wont get you the gig by itself. Diddy is looking for "swagger" too. That means you have to look and act the part of a "hot" R&b musician... ok. I bet he's not the only one out there judging this way. thats the game. I will definately check it out when I can.

The funny thing is that in those circles being humble is one of the most mentioned traits when you speak with MD's,managers ect. People skills are super important also,making people feel good about having you on the gig is the key to long term success.

Exactly. Im not that clear on what looking the part and acting the part of a "hot" R&B musician is, but looking at alot of the live shows of ppl like Jill Scott, Angie Stone, John Legend and others, I dont see a distinct reference.

Still my money is on Rawbiz, and if someone beats him out, theyve definitely got a new fan. :)

I don't know man, I think that Jamareo has a good shot at it. I say that but we haven't really seen a lot of Tim Rawbiz yet so I can't really judge.

One thing I think we can all agree that Jamareo has got some serious groove going on :bassist:

Right now I'm rooting for Jamareo on bass, Blake on guitar, and Brockett on keys. I'm not sure about the drummers yet; I liked Chris but he got kicked but the two girls are pretty tight drummers. The one who played the Purdie shuffle during the auditions is my favourite so far but again I haven't seen much of the other girl. I saw her playing during those ensemble performances that they did and when she took a solo I wasn't too impressed :ninja:

And even if he doesn't win, Jamero will get some outside gigs due to his humble rep!

Time issues can always be woodshedded!

Go back to page two and listen to those clips I put up on pg 2 (esp. the myspace). Im looking up Jamareo at the moment, but Tim is S-I-C-K, and has played for pretty much every top R&B and gospel artist there is. Thats kinda why though Im hypin' him up, at the same time I kind of want to see some ppl beat him out to see who else is out there thats of his caliber.

I caught some of the second episode today. Interesting how the keyboard player was allowed to switch to drums. Just as the MD said, he better bring it, for real. I think it's also gonna be a battle between Jamero and the other more experienced guys that another poster says are there.
I just wish though that there could a be show about the music and not the drama. I came in where the big man drummer was arguing with someone and it looks like one of the keyboard players wants to go home...If you can't stand the heat...

I got through an episode online this evening, and I really enjoyed it! I think this would be a great show for young people who are interested in music to see because it talks about the skills needed to make a living playing. I also liked the bit about being able to tell church music flash from actual playing skills. Although I agree that the storyline clearly set the drummer Chris up for a fall, the point made was stil legitimate.

Wow, on Caught up, he is really killing it! He reminds me of Sharay Reed. Is that a MTD he is playing and do those basses really sound like that WITHOUT a lot of mixing etc!

I think Rawbiz really displayed this on tonight's episode. The female drummer (Joy?) was obviously new to programming/triggering samples, and he was all about helping her through it, and was incredibly positive about the whole thing. Seems like a great guy, and someone that people would love to work with.
