This aligns with the Preoperational Stage of Piaget's model of childhood development. From roughly 2-7 years old, children maintain an egocentric model and have difficulty seeing things from another's viewpoint.
They think everyone knows what they know, likes what they like, and believes what they believe.
I mean... we are bass players...

This was exactly the thread that sparked my "rant". The OP starts with "OK, let’s solve this thing democratically."... why? What are we solving? One choice is not more or less "right" than the other.
The old smoothie, I think it's called is pretty nice. More in the P range.
Yeah I've played them all and taste changes over the yrs. Currently I only play single passive pickup, flats, fretless. I just can't seem to let go of any of my past main players. Good we have choices as we evolve. I figure at some point I may go back to something I liked before.

Comparison threads although redundant are for the sake of fun (I think or at least how I interpret them...)
Reading thru them I do sometimes gain knowledge as to why a certain model does it for people. Truth is though, that any bass should be able to get the job done and take on similar sonics (in the mix) thru technique, string choice and EQ.

FWIW I'm not a Fender hater they are just not my cup of tea. Most of my basses fall in the "other" category.

I think you guys are totally ignoring the obvious superiority of the P compared to the J.
Yeah. I can’t seem to keep one for any length of time. One advantage of Fender is that they have a good resale. I have never had any issue selling one.
Played in a band, a Jazz worked out great. Played in another band, and the Jazz didn't quite fit sonically. Got a Precision and it worked so much better for that band...

They're honestly both pretty overrated.
I'll take ham and cheese over peanut butter or jelly any day of the week. I know there are a lot of traditionalists out there, but there are honestly much better sandwiches if you just keep an open mind.
