what pair of 210 under 1000 would you choose for a vertical stack ?

I don't have these cabs, but I have gone through a lot of Fender amplification gear, and if I were to buy any cab setup right now it would be a pair of Rumble 210s. They look good, have more power handling than you will need, they sound good with different heads, don't color the sound of the head too much, reliable, lots of other people use them,, they are a good value brand new. There's nothing that exciting about them, but i can't think of anything negative to say about them. Some people just hate the way fender stuff sounds or they are looking for something very specific in their tone, and that's completely fair if that's your personal taste, but if that's not you, then you're buying these by default, I think.

No; you just believe that you do. The widespread general beliefs about certain size speakers having certain tonal characteristics are, quite frankly, all wrong. Picking a speaker based on assigning certain tonal characteristics to certain size speakers makes no sense. Pick a specific speaker size if you need it to fill a certain size hole in a cabinet that you already have. Otherwise, look at tonal characteristics of speakers, and speaker/cab combinations, to make your decision – not something as near useless as speaker diameter alone.

they will be powered by a tone hammer 500 so i think they need to handle at least 300w rms each 8 ohms.
i think about 3 models that are
1 fender rumble 210
2 hartke Hydrive HD 210( the "new" ones black)
3 ampeg PF 210 HE portaflex
I have a bad back so light is good and the fender and hartke are lighter but if the ampeg sounds better, i can lift a few more pounds.
Based on your experience, which one do you think will best suit my needs.

i was going to buy a pair of hydrives a while back based on what i was hearing online and with them turned down in a very noisy sam ash store. someone on this board said they sounded overbright and metallic to him, and so i went back to sam ash when it wasn't noisy, turned them up, and they sounded harsh and metallic to me. YMMV.

i have one of the ampegs, and it sounds very ampeggy. if that's the sound you're looking for, there ya go.

i voted rumble. while not uncolored, which i don't prefer anyway, for me of the ones you list they're the most pleasant to my ears and the most versatile. also lightweight and a great valuie.

btw, i owned a single GK NEO 112 ll, and for a while it was my alltime favorite cab ever. but the coil blew out, and when GK sent me a new one (my cab wasn't under warranty, but they sent me the speaker/coil for a good price), they said there had been some changes. the replacement was very boomy - so bassy that i sold it, as it didn't sound like the cab with the sound i loved at all.

was it the new hydrive serie you tried ? it seems that there s less alu in them and i find them to be relatively warm.
As for the rumble , are they doing well with low lows i woud say the 40-80 hz area ? are they able to produce sub sound like in reggae, are they punchy too ?

i wish i could answer more, but the only one i own is the ampeg, and i haven't been to a music store since late february. there IS less aluminum in the hydrives, and for all i know, the brash tone isn't from the aluminum but are just the way they're voiced. my all-aluminum hartke experience was that i tore the cone of a friend's like tissue paper even while playing way below their max watts.

when i met my wife , the fist time she came home, i cooked for her carbonara pasta ... and the rest is history :laugh:
i know what i owe to Italia ! but c mon this orange !!!
