Pat Wilkins Club

I don't have a Wilkins guitar, but Pat did the refinish on the fingerboard of my fretless Fender Jazz:

He does great work.

Your shorties are so cool. You're in!

Thank you very much. What number am I? (I'm going to add it to my signature right now.)

Wow!! I'm completely blown away. Thank you so much for a creating a "club" for me here on Talkbass. I will do my absolute best to live up to this great honor that you've given me.

You deserve it Pat. Oh, and I'm going to bring in the Ukenbacker to stain walnut probably tomorrow after I pick it up from Eric's Guitar.

I agree , these are the only long scale strings I use now , actually dropped my beloved R Coccos for them . They are that good . And Pat ships these super fast and they are nicely priced as well . It's a total win/win

I played a little bass today , we'll it followed me home , oh wait no it was hand delivered but I'm keeping it ! This little guy has made a couple rounds through TB through the hands of some very fine players but it has found it's forever home with me and it's cousin the Road Tested P .
it's 1 of 3 made , 30.5" scale Barracuda .
I'll start off snagging one of Markus's amazing pics because who takes better pics than Markus ?

also puts some Glendale guitars "raw" hardware on it and GHS shortscale pressurewounds . It plays like butta and sounds super cool .

These are really cool basses, and I've seen one in person at Pat's. If Pat ever made a 5 string version of that and it happened to be there when I walked in, I would be in a heap of trouble.

so I went had some fun with this little bass tonight. This was the first time hearing it and so I used the neck middle and bridge to get it all in :). The middle : both pickups on is stereo left main "bassline" and I like this I'll use it like this for the most part for "normal" bass playing :D stereo right "lead" lines are switching from bridge to neck every other lick so you can start to hear the slightly brighter kinda nasal bridge to the slightly rounder more bassy neck pickup . I can see using all 3 sounds though easy and it was nice the pickup selector doesn't do that usual scratchy tele switching sound :smug:

My friend Pat has done finish work for me and the man is absolutely a top notch perfectionist. One of the greatest of all time in my opinion. Here are the photos he took of the three bodies he finished for me:

You selling that but who will lead the club ? Also you are crazy and that is a crazy good price . GLWTS

Fretno, I nominate you! I might still keep it though... I put some tapes on it last night and the thing is just so smooth... Only limiting factor is the size of my nyc apartment. I would happily keep 3 basses if I could!

The bass is getting a ton of attention though, which was a little surprising to me consider what a well kept secret Pat's basses seem to get in these parts.

hmmm... There should be a lot more folks here with Pats Finishes hope we get to see them. I'm not sure about group leader but I did track this yesterday . I used a Talkback reverse delay for just a touch of coolness

So I was wondering why the pickups sounded so good, so I finally decided to pull them out of the bass tonight. To my surprise the pj set was a custom wound Wilkins set (labeled 0001 and 0003) made by Arcane inc. Little did I know I had some boutique PUs hiding in my bass. The P sounds amazing, the only complaint I have is that the j is a little noisy. I had both of my basses listed and my other one sold, so I will be holding onto this one!
