When I first saw this post I was going to say that I had a hard time spending $4 each for the square plugs when I bought EBS cables for $7 a while back... but I just checked the pricing and EBS cables have gone up in price. I might have to move back to the DIY cables and the SP500's, at least for non-standard lengths. I've already got some Canare cable in the bin that'll fit it. I needed to make a Redco order anyways.

Really surprised no one has said EBS yet :laugh:. Their gold ones are incredible and such a small footprint. I have several of the MXR pancake style ones that are great too, but the smaller EBS has taken over my pedalboard so I can fit things better (silly MXR style pedals with the input and output being parallel and the power socket getting in the way...)

I've had a number of Audioblast cables (and older Reverb patch cables) go bad. Given their build quality isn't any different than any other pancake cables, it could just be bad luck. I'm happy with the smaller Ernie Ball flat cables now.

It weird... I don't like George L's as effects patch cables, but I love them as instrument cables. I especially like them on Double Bass as they just sort of visually disappear on stage so it doesn't look like I have some giant extension cord coming off the tailpiece of my DB where the piezo pickup plug sits.

I have been using something called world's best cables from amazon for quite a while now. Supposedly they are made with mogami cable. I have had one bad cable out of the 20 plus I have bought. I used a lot of hosa early on and I have used MXR, and they have all worked fine for me. I have had a lot of hosa cables die, but that's likely because I had them the longest.

I've been using redundant UHF cables (old TV antenna cable) to great effect as they're in plentiful supply. They're made-to-measure, shielded, tough and with no perceivable effect on tone, and most of all - free. What's not to love.

was using the hosa metal pancake for a bit, worked fine but they are too wide to fit on pedals with close jacks (like a badger schism). so im using hosa plastic flats now. basically identical to the ebs cables, but a bit less expensive. no noticeable tone suck. would have gotten the ebs but wanted to save over a hundred bucks for all the cables i needed.

would love to see a scientific study of all the popular mini cables on the market now. seems like everyone is copying ebs these days.
