Paul Gray form Slipknot found dead

Your point was taken. But it is hard to overlook that Paul took himself out. Paul robbed his fans of his music and their enjoyment of his music and the band many loved.

And more to my point, he took himself out of his family. When ones own actions cause ones end, it is a whole different ballgame.

I don't think it's fair to say that he wasn't allowed to live the life that he wanted to live because fans don't get to hear a new Slipknot album.

As far as his family goes though, it's a slightly stickier situation. I still think that you should be able to do as much coke as you want if you've busted your ass in a band for 15 years and secured the financial future of your family.

money doesn't buy a child a dead father's love, dude. besides, if you're doing coke on a regular basis, you're putting their financial future in jeopardy no matter how much money you make.

money is only part of bein' a dad...football practice, parent teacher nights, and just hangin' out are requirements of daddyhood, and junkies are just a bummer to be around, especially for kids

I think you are buying into a false romanticised rock star image.
What about the guy busting his ass driving a truck 15 years? The guy working double shifts for 15 years as a cop? The college football coach who's been winning for 15 years? How about an ER surgeon who has worked doubles and is always on call for 15 years? Should it be ok for them too? No. Being a bassist isn't nearly as hard as those jobs, why should special consideration be given to him because he was a rock star? You are buying into something that you probably would not have a problem not tolerating if he had worked a job without somekind of romantic image of a misunderstood, suffering artist.

That's only if you think it's important to have two parents. I personally, do not. And why shouldn't truck drivers and ER surgeons be able to blow coke and die? As long as their pension is paying the bills from the grave.

as much as you're right, it DOES soften the blow.

as ive been a bastard child AND poor all my life, ive got to say that having one.. or a half of a parent and being loaded would have been much, much better

Seriously. Coke is a giant hole that you pour money into.

Now, I've got no problem with a person doing drugs if he wants to, but I really don't understand how someone could relapse iinto the hard stuff when they've got a kid on the way. That's completely fugged up, to steal from Norman Mailer.

because they have jobs that could take lives if they werent 100% on top of their game.

in the long run, musicians are inconsequential compared to doctors.

I think in the long run music is just as important as medicine.

There are fugged up clown mask musicians who stumble upon financial success. There are lousy doctors that don't give a s*** for human life other than their own while on vacation.

OTH, you've got musicians and composers who care for humanity every bit as much as practicing doctors who spend as much or more time researching for cures and new treatment therapies.

Bot are vital for the survival of our species. IMO.

Children too, are giant holes that you pour money into.

Did you really just compare children to cocaine???

Life is a giant hole... LOL. Its simple my friends..how can someone go back to drugs...blah ...blah when they are have a child ,wife, family and throw their lives away ???
ADDICTION...its that strong and once you go down that road you are open for it life... anytime, anyplace. Rule one..dont try it, dont find out what addiction to something negitive like drugs can do to your life.

Your kidding, right???? Or are you that full of yourself and your music, and idolize musicians that you would put them above someone that saves lives? If you are ever in a accident, or you get extremely sick, call a cow bell'er

Let me just say that in my experience drug use has never been a negative, nor have I had any trouble not doing drugs.

The exception being cigarettes, but with incentive to quit, I can quit easily (and have before). Its the staying quit bit that's a real PITA.

AHHH ...more power to you my friend on the cigs...5 + years for me off them..very tough to kick. To you and I drugs were never an issue and we were lucky. The cig addiction is difficult and i know allot of folks who get off only to get back on. The demon is addiction as i said in Pauls case it took him down no matter that he had a wife and child on the way a music career etc..addiction took him down. Consider yourself as i Do lucky we made good choices? My demon was Alcohol in my early 20's...i beat it and can drink socially today with no problems.....that's me...again lucky :)

You are hilarious! I didn't say anything about myself. I didn't say anything about idolizing ANYBODY.

My post was a generalization in response to the post I quoted. And no, I'm not kidding. I didn't say that musicians are more ****important**** than doctors when it's time for medical intervention.
