Pay pal incident( scam )

I'm still paying on the bass I owe $800 still so technically I can show that.

That is irrelevant. Please have someone go over what you send to PayPal because some of your descriptions are confusing and if the buyer is more concise, it will make the person at PayPal's decision easier.

I’m very sorry to hear that you’ve been treated badly

The sad truth is that online sales for used gear have inflated the prices but the downside is that some of the deals go bad, and the seller could even lose everything

I would never sell such an expensive item online unless they collected it and paid cash

A few years back I sold a nice Gibson Les Paul guitar for $1,000. I could have got another 30-50% online. And I’ve been suffering seller’s remorse ever since, so no matter what you do, you never know how you’re going to feel about it afterwards

Probably a simple Google search can save >100 replies.

See: Is paypal safe to sell a guitar with?

From that...

6 months to file a claim doesnt mean they win claim, it just means the file which would very easy be denied in many situations after time has passed. I have dealt with this before and they will deny depending on the item in question. such as guitars yes you can file but musical instruments fall under item that are rarely claim won when weeks or month shave passed. And paypa gift w the credit card charges the 3% so nobody does the gift from card. Free gift is only from money you have in paypal, or transfer from your bank account. You cannot do gift from card and not pay fees

I’m semi embarrassed to admit that I’ve bought and sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear here in the Talkbass community.

Never an issue.

Except for two deals, I’ve used Paypal. At this point, I won’t even look at a deal without Paypal. I’m not interested in money orders or certified checks. Cash and carry, sure, we can meet. Trade a pedal, maybe.

Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water. There’s thousands of members on here with hundreds of positive feedback deals. Talkbass is my first and second and third choice for buying and selling gear. If it would be too much to ship, I might limit it to local pickup or delivery.

We just don’t see many threads about how happy folks are with their latest deal. Ok, wait, we do.

This one will work out eventually.

If this becomes a mess and does not get settled in my favor, you will be 100 percent sure I will release all information on this person..his talkbass name, where he's from and phone number( which I have some weird Comcast phone thing,I don't think its a cell phone).but I will most def release all for everyone to see..

I know youre unhappy about the situation, and if you want to warn others about him, that’s what our feedback system is for. But you will not under any circumstance release any private information, including but limited to: real name, phone number, address.

So your telling me if he's a scammer and I prove everything on here, I can't give anyone his information? even his name? Gotcha!

Be careful, filing a claim within 180 days are terms that both the buyer and seller agreed to when you signed up for PayPal. You may not like what he did, but it's within his rights. I'd hold off on the negative comments until things are sorted out.

I am.. I would not do that to someone until I knew a 100 percent they were just scamming.. but on the other hand even though he's within his rights does not mean he has to make up a lie about the neck being bent. And a 180 days is rediculous for a bass guitar.

Regardless of the reason, that is doxing and 100% not permitted here. If Paypal rules in your favor, do you think you’d be ok with him putting your personal information out there just because he feels like he was wronged? I’d assume not.

Like I said, that’s what the feedback system is for. You can also address the help desk if you have evidence that you are being scammed or something of that nature.
