Peavey 2x15 replacement speaker question

Hey!

One of my speakers in my Peavey 2x15 blew and I am looking into replacements. I want something where I can just easily swap the old ones out with new ones. I use an acoustic 370 head which is rated at 400w.

The speakers are the big magnetic square backs. I liked the tone I got out of them so I wouldn't mind something similar.

the Peavey serial on the cab started with 0E and the serial on the back of the speaker that blew is
15854bc-1 67-8050

Unfortunately, for bass, it doesn't often work out to simply swap out old speakers for something different.
Unlike with guitar speakers and cabs, you can't just throw something in and expect good results. This is mainly because speakers and cabs for bass are designed as a system to work together.

Hopefully someone has already done what you are proposing and will share what they found to be suitable replacement speakers that offered good results for that cabinet.

Otherwise, you'll need to do a deep dive into T/S (Thiele and Small) parameters to see what might work. Fortunately, there are folks here who might be able to help. Here is some preliminary info.

I don't have any specific recommendations for you, but since the speakers you wish to replace are made by Eminence (67 is their manufacturer code), I suggest you contact them for a recommendation. I have gotten great response from Eminence in the past and they'd likely know better than most what will work in that cabinet and in terms of providing similar tone.

I used an Acoustic 370 head for many years. It sounded best with the twin 18" speaker cabinets that it came with.
Both the 2/15 or 8/10 cabinets I tried from time to time couldn't provide the same sound, that was more of the job for the Ampeg SVT brain.
Conversely the SVT didn't work as well with the two Acoustic 18" folded horns, but with one 8/10 or one 2/15 had plenty of sound coming out front.
The reason? I don't know, but I'm sure someone does.

I have an older avatar 210......one of the speakers blew and I replaced both of them with Eminence 10" bass speakers that I bought on Amazon. I didn't have any real specs from the original speakers.....so I kinda took a leap. This was about 7 years ago and lemme tell ya......the cabinet sounds better than ever.

I really the celestion pulse 15s. They are clean and deep, but have a whim he lot of mid range, stay pretty tight, and have decent high end to them. Decent High end. Plus, they're modestly priced.

The internal volume of the cabinet and the dimensions of the ports.

Once we know this information, we will have a better idea what will work well (and also what won't work well). We will also be able to determine the performance capabilities and safe power limits.

Awesome! How would I go about finding the internal volume? The ports are triangular, with one at the bottom right of the top 15" speaker, and one at the top right of the bottom 15" speaker.
