I just got this amp - Peavey Standard 260H series.

I'm running it into a BagEnd S15 or two. It's ridiculously loud for the wattage rating.
I don't remember these heads sounding so clear.

This thing sounds great, especially overdriven using the various gain stages.


This version has some cool switching options with individual inputs for the two channels as well as parallel and series options with separate inputs for those. It's also footswitchable, but I don't have the DIN plug switch for it.

I've been comparing it to a Gen 2 GK 400RB and it's much louder, but I prefer the tone of the GK.

Cool heads.
GK is slick, smooth and can open up to a nicely delivered growl.
Peavey is the old school grunt, with an opaque low end...
I've got an Eden WT405 for the modern-sound gigs, but there Peavey stuff gets the rock gigs in biker/hick/swill pits- my favorite places to play!

That's true - the Peavey has a different gritty, trebley, crunchy tone. It feels a bit less controlled than the GK.

I don't have a number. Happy to have one, but I haven't been good about keeping track of the clubs I'm in!

It was missing corners, which I had replacements for.
It was also missing the proper handles, which I'm having a devil of a time finding. They are kind of an odd size, I guess! 7-1/4" hole spread is 1" shorter than anything else I can find, so if anyone has a clue on where I need to look, MUCH appreciated.
The one handle shown is likely an original, but it's in terrible shape and this amp is heavy enough for 2 handles.

I honestly went there, thinking I'd just get a read on how it performed for me, with the assumption of it being from GC, it was likely broken in some way, so I could see if it was truly an amp for me to keep seeking. But I put it through its paces and nothing was off. All the pots were even clean and crackle free, which is a first for just about ANY older Peavey I've played through.
There was no reason NOT to buy it, so I bought it.

Now, I can finally run insane combinations of cabinets that I never could before. My practice space has a 2x15 Peavey cab and that is 4Ω. I've almost snagged a number of other ones of those, as they frequently popped up for silly low prices, but couldn't justify 2 of them with the head there.
Well, now I can do that with ease, should I want to.

Oh, I should also mention that I couldn't resist picking this up with it, as the price was stupid low and it will be replacing another cab I have for the home rig:

Missing the badge and a couple of feet, this is also a Peavey, the 410TX. My guess is, these 2 lived together as they came in about the same time.
They will continue to live together for a while, it appears!

The Mk-VIII was the one I wanted as a kid, but only in the last couple years did I discover the Mk-III. Very nice.
Good score on the TVX too...

I picked up a Series III Bass Combo recently and just got it back from service today. All the electronics were/are original, and I found a 90s Black Widow speaker to replace the damaged one. I haven't had a Peavey combo since my TKO 115 in college, and this is much better. It's loud and clear even at high volumes, but can still get a little grit with pre cranked. It's perfect for the practice room.

I added casters so it's a little easier to move. I'm also going to add spring-loaded side handles to make make loading in/out less of a PITA.

Now if I can just find an old PV head for the Athens practice room, I'm set!

Spring loaded side handles are a great idea for all those heavy combos. The one design flaw I have to remark about odd the absence of proper handles for a heavy, low-to-the-ground box.
But they got the rest right. :)

Normally I see them go used for $700 in decent condition on Reverb/Ebay with unknown age of the tubes, maintenance history, and original filter caps from 17+ years ago. Given this has the EHX tubes, new filter caps, restored chassis, fuse holders for easier service etc, would it sell for $800-900?

I've got a Fender Tube head and I see them offered for $1,500+. This beast, serviced up and without issues should totally go for your price.
Figure $700 plus your work and parts, then be able to allow some haggle room...
An Ampeg V4-B in such condition probably goes for $1,000-$1,200?

It used to be, but my back won't let me do it anymore. This is in my "Den of Geek" (what other's might call a Man Cave), and sits next to my 1974 Fender Bassman 50 with the matching Fender 2x15" cabinet. I use the two of them interchangeably when I practice at home. The Microbass is in the living room next to my recliner if I want to jam in there.

As for the number...sure.
