Say, where's the toggle switch? Can't see any...how does it work (what does it do?)?

IME, seems like the question is who DOESN’T use Peavey amps?
Here are mine. My Mark IV with 2x10 and 2x15 cabs. Got it around 1997 to replace the Ampeg flip top that was crapping out. Don’t mind the mess, it’s sitting in a corner for if I go out to play again. I have smaller options for playing in the house.
Like my Minx. That’s my upstairs and formerly the basement practice rig. Got it around 2016 for a small donation, a guy bought an old house and was cleaning it out to tear it down. The Minx was there with a DIY plug and covered with melted candle wax. Turned out it worked just fine, but I did eventually have to replace the speaker.

I had to re-stack & re-arrange some cabs/amps stuff to make more room in the living room......

Just discovered this thread. Here are my Peavey amps.
VB-2
VB-3
VB-MA
MAX700
MiniMega
Basic 112
Microbass
The VB-2 and VB-3 have EHX preamp and EHX 6CA7 valves in them. The MA still the original Ruby EL34s. I'm currently working on obtaining another non working VB-2 without any valves for cheap. Intention is to repair and keep, maybe sell later.
The VB-2 I have now I did a bunch of mods to make it more reliable, removeable fuse holders for F1/F2. F2 constantly blew because the wrong value was in it. Full replacement of all the power filter caps with Nichicon brand ones. Discovered a leaking filter cap, but shotgunned the whole section for Murphys Law sake.
The potential 2nd VB-2 has no valves, keeps blowing the main F3 fuse. Hopefully nothing super catastrophic has happened to it. Paying $100 plus shipping to grab it. At the least got plenty of parts, but don't want it to be. Stay tuned!

How long have you been into Peavey amps?

Around 2002 I was gifted the Microbass. Lusted at the MAX700 for a bit in high school/college but couldn't afford at the time. Once i did shortly later, ran it hard with the TVX cabs for 17 years. Got married, house, three dogs, got more financially stable years later to then go hunting for the hard to find VB amps. The MM was a utilitarian purchase. 9lbs way better than 52lbs lol. I stay in contact with the engineers who built/designed the VB amps, even helping to correct minor schematic flaws making the amps more reliable.
Thats my story in a nutshell!

It lives again! Well it's heart is beating again. No more short circuit. Removeable internal fuse holders installed, and a whole set of Nichicon filter caps. I spoke with John Fields to make sure I can turn on the amp without tubes or a speaker load to test with my variac and he said definitely.
Plate voltage is 575vdc no load. Yikes thats high! Its normally about 547-550vdc under load. Filter caps can handle 750vdc so no issues there. The OT is the only thing left to test, but will need new tubes to test that. Hoing to spend the money and get EHX 6CA7s and preamp valves. JJs would be cheaper but its a $73 difference, and rather have the valves in there that I love. JJs are good but seem too midrange to me. 6CA7s are nice full range with a gentle high end rolloff

I gigged my Peavey MKIV head and 1820 cab since the 80's till a few years ago when I started having spine/neck issues and ended up using some lighter gear (F. Rumble combo) but I still love the sound my Peavey gear put out especially paired with my beautiful Peavey 1991 5 string Dyna Bass..what a thunderous combination it is.

Hayill yeah you can have a number! I had a red Dyna fiver many years ago, a fine axe it was too.

Thank you Count..much appreciated to be a member of a much needed club relating to excellent Peavey amps..the most indestructable amplifier in the known universe!
#16 is a fine number to have...about the age i was when I picked up playing bass guitar using a home made Precision copy through an old Goldentone amp..now I'm 72 years old and still at it with just as much exuberance but with better equipment loll

I think I picked up every Peavey Monitor magazine in the 90's as I have quite a stack in the wardrobe taking up shoe space loll
Back in 2018 I thought I may as well scan as much from them and upload the results to the Peavey clubs..lots of users have enjoyed the pics..its nice to share what we have among us relating to Peavey gear. Afterall Peavey was a true innovative American made musical equipment manufacturer especially back in the 80's 90's etc and many muso's started out probably owning either a Peavey amp or playing a Peavey bass or guitar. Great value for money spent on equipment that will survive an atomic blast and a 16 year old playing at volume 11. Glad you enjoyed them Count, Kara and others.
