Edit: I just got off the phone with Peavey. They are indeed Super Ferrites.

Edit: I just got off the phone with Peavey. They are indeed Super Ferrites.
This isn't a super clear pic but heres a shot of my 92 4string after I put it back together. You can at least get an idea of the markings on Super Ferrites.
Hey guys it took me 2 weeks to figure out that the two single SF pickups on my 1983 could be set to a giant humbucker mode by setting them at the same level. That was my proud moment of the night.
My fav setting is the two volumes at 10 and the tone at 2. Bawah that sounds so mean and powerful and the squeeshes are actually enhanced in a positive way, for who like dirty bass play with lots of them.

I have a white 1992, missing one knob and one other (of 3) is not original, mine says Hand Crafted in the USA on the back of the headstock. S/N starts with 055.
My neck needs straightening as this thing was really abused, I have a twist as well as a bow. I've ordered some tools to help me really do the neck right. I got this real cheap so it is going to be my first total rebuild/restore. I'll get photos tomorrow and post them here, might be kind of fun to photo document the whole rebuild.

You know, the 1983 I got was very promising but the bow was so intense that I decided to take it to the shop and do not regret AT ALL. The job was near perfect (I just adjusted one saddle myself, I know someone who will disagree) and it sounds just awesome. Fast playing bass, now that the action is set right.
Currently my Foundie is in rotation with my RBX 270.

Thats funny. I have a pair of those pickups out of a later Foundation ( same story; in the ebay pics they definitely werent those soapbars and they looked like Superferrites) and I asked more than once on the Peavey Forum and never got an answer. I dropped Nordstrand Big Singles in it but the neck was too thin and sold it here. If the above info is true, I'll have a pair of Superferrites for sale, real soon
Yeah.. I am looking at a Fretless foundation if the guy calls me backI cannot even play a fretless yet, but I love my fretted one so much I figure I will grow into the fretless.
I mean a freatless foundation w. TI Jazz flats on it. "The Perfect Tone"?
I JUST bought foundation #2.. this time it's fretless.
If anyone is intersted.. I'll probably swap necks and create a very low use fretted neck with sunburst body.

TL-5.. wow.. I'll look it up... I can always use #5-200 TLs
RJ-IV (or any Unity) is well worth the money.. will easily compete with any of my botique basses. (when set up right).

ANYONE have ANY idea what these pickups are?
I picked it up around Thanksgiving of last year. It was on Ebay with some pretty rotten cell phone pictures. They LOOKED like Super Ferrite pickups which is why I nailed it. BUT, these just say PEAVEY on them.
The previous owner "removed the PEAVEY logo because he was a pro and this was a backup. I don't endorse any brands so I dind't want the brand to be seen" and he removed the water slide PEAVEY logo. The MADE IN USA still remains.

Sorry to break the news folks, but I've just found out, via a reply from John Molitor at Peavey Customer Service that those pups are NOT super ferrites.
Here is his reply to my dating request. I sent him a link w/ a close up photo of these pups.
Sorry for the bum news, but it's a bummer for me as well. I was told my Foundy 5'er was bought new in '91 by the seller, and mine has those exact pups on it. Not saying the seller was lying, he may have been mistaken, or I may have mis-heard him.
So.... until shown otherwise, I've got to go with the Peavey employee's word, and disregard the myth that Peavey changed the covers on the Super Ferrites before they finally stopped installing them.
This is the first I heard Foundations were made of maple though. I know up to '92, most were poplar with a few of the early natural finishes being mahogany. In '92 they were still using the Super Ferrites, but switched to alder for the wood. Mine is a '93 and it SF/alder. So in '94 they dropped the SFs and switched to maple it seems.
