This is the first I heard Foundations were made of maple though. I know up to '92, most were poplar with a few of the early natural finishes being mahogany. In '92 they were still using the Super Ferrites, but switched to alder for the wood. Mine is a '93 and it SF/alder. So in '94 they dropped the SFs and switched to maple it seems.
Mine is a fairly bright sounding bass, so I'm not surprised to hear it's maple. Still sounds good though.
