What cab or cabs did Peavey offer as the "match" to this head from, I believe, the late 70s? Also, anyone know of a site to find info on "vintage" Peavey gear? I've not located anything beyond a small question and answer site, mostly dealing with newer stuff. Thanks. :cool:

These old Peaveys were pretty much mix'n match back in the day.

If you happaned to have two Peavey 15's, you'd use them.
Or maybe you only have a Peavey 3620.... you would have used that.
Old Peaveys generally didn't have a specific cabinet for them and that amp only.
Think the Ampeg SVT.....
With that Peavey, you would have used whatever you could afford/carry/get your hands on.
BUT.... a good old Peavey 215 was most common. And I use that loosely.

And, unfortunately, there is no such site that I know of. Pity.... a good Peavey head from then with a recap/minor maintenance will probably outlive my unborn grandkids.

On a side note, they were all great amps, but Peavey REALLY lacked in the name department. :eyebrow: There were all sorts of amps, and you never knew what the HELL you had.... Centurion III's, Centurion III Bass, Centurion PA..... Standard III PA, Standard II..... all totally different things. :rollno: Great amps though. :)

Thanks for the info, my fellow Tarheel KramerBassFan. I seem to recall that most that I remember seeing were the 2-15 cabs. I was one of those that didn't give much thought to Peaveys, but have since learned that they had, and probably still do, some quality stuff. Any ideas if any of those period cabs had Altec or JBL options? :cool:

Hmmm. Most had Black Widows by Peavey by the 80's, or at least I want to think.
If you every come across a Peavey for sale, BE SURE AND TRY IT WITH A BASS AMP.... some of the old Peavey 2x15's are loaded with Guitar Speakers, and utter rubbish for bass. That being said, some of them just sound lovely. My friend got a old Peavey Standard III amp off of ebay for $50 or so, with shipping. I love Old Peaveys.... and old Sunns, and old Transistor dinosaurs as they are known. Everybody now days can have their 800w 2.4543 pound Class D IPOD Bass amps.... I'm going to stick to my heavy old "crap". Oh, speaking of that.... I just bought a Broken Kustom amp off of Ebay for $35 the other day. :cool:

I do think some of them had CTS speakers..... but i'm not a Peavey expert. Most people don't complain about Peavey cabinets, except for the weight, but now days, everything except for A small AA powered tuner is "heavy" to most peoples standards.

Thanks again for the info. I too love the old hunks including Kustom, Sunn and Acoustic. :cool:
