Peavey MiniMega 1000

no, I actually have another class D amp that i have racked with my tube pre that is used as a simple power section at times.

What a marathon thread. I read about the first 30 pages then skipped to 95...

It's been quite a few years since I gigged or owned any Peavey gear - I guess bass gear got smaller more quickly at other companies, hence my departure. But I am impressed by the specs and feature set of these MiniMegas and am seriously considering picking one up.

Has anybody tried one out through an SVT 810? Forgive me if this has already been covered. I run a Markbass stack for small to medium indoor gigs, and the SVT for bigger shows and outdoor events. I had used a Hartke head that treated me pretty well, but I guess over time I got less and less enamored with the sound of that particular head. It has been sold. I like the semi-parametric mid controls on the Peavey and I suspect it may be just what I'm after, just curious if anybody has tried the Peavey-SVT combination that would care to opine.

Ive run it thru an SVT 810... Be careful. It is able blow up the 810 if you crank the amp/. The Amp has a huge amount of horse power. I was able to get the top end i wanted by engaging the Hi Mids and boosting just a bit..

Thanks for this. I was assuming this head might be a decent match for that cab, but certainly welcome a voice of experience.

Thankfully, our group covers styles that will not likely require me to be diming the amp anytime soon! (I'm sure it would be a train-engine-sized roar for a few seconds, though.) While I have to admit the kilowatt rating is impressive, the feature set is what really captured my attention. All this at such a nice pricepoint is tough to ignore.

Appreciate the feedback!

What a great sounding amp the Mini Mega is.. I also like the Combo Jack for the speaker. I took it to a gig for a buddy to rty out. His cab only had 1/4" speaker jack... The Mini Mega accommodates that without an adapter.. Nice

I had a feeling it would sound pretty good with guitar, so I grabbed my strat to test it for ya. It sounded pretty amazing. Then I added my zoom b3 to the chain so I could try some of the guitar effects in it (muff, tubescreamer, etc.) and it sounded phenomenal as well. I ran it through my ported 12s and my sealed 15s. Sounded good through both sets. Of course the sealed cabs add a little color to the tone. I don't see how you couldn't find a usable guitar sound out of it, but guitar is not my first instrument nor have I been searching for "that" guitar tone.

So I just pulled the trigger on a Minimega blem from Zsounds. I was looking around at prices and the blem was too cheap to pass up. I was talking to a friend who just got a Quilter but it's the only one in town. It will be awhile before I get a chance to hear it. Since the blem came with a full warrantee and a 45 day return policy I figured I had little to lose by trying it out. So while I was searching out pricing and found no one locally has either the Q amp or the MM amp the (MM) one on Zsounds was so cheap I figured what the heck, let's just do it. The kicker that pushed me over the edge was it was only $425.00 !!!!! .....so what's that work out to.....$0.42 PW!!!! 42 cents per watt! That might be a new record. And speaking of records, just for the record they have one more blem @ $425.00 just waiting for another lucky TBer.
