Peavey MiniMega 1000

Did a search but got nothing. How does the mM compare/contrast with a Warwick LMA 1000? I tried out the Warwick at my local GC (they had a used one in a bag) and determined that if I had to go class D, I could live with that unit. It seemed to have a little more slam than the Mesa (most class-D amps don't impress me anyway) and had more pretty lights on the front. The bag it was in is a must-have. It didn't quite have the initial slap I like to get from A/B SS and tube amps but it had a lot more than the others I have tried.
Just curious to see if the mM was similar in its sonic delivery. I do not think, however, that I will ever relinquish my membership to the almighty Church of Iron and Glass.

I've read some comments about the LMA in that you need to crank the gain and volume knobs (which I did). There's also some way to get more by using the compressor, but I don't care for hokey nonsense like that. I'd sure like to try out a PV but they're as rare as a jackalope in these parts.
That was exactly our experience with the Warwick.....you have to max everything and in the end, you have no real headroom available. This Peavey is headroom city plus has the heft/slam of non-class D amps, it's a real winner for its price point!
Ive got a Minimega on the way! Finally! We will see if it makes me retire my old T-Max

I just got the latest..in Oz..Bass Guitar Magazine with the review of the new Peavey amps..8/10 for Mini Mega...9/10 for the Mini Max..great review..also Duran Duran John Taylor is currently using the Mini Mega as his part of his tour rig..

Could be. Sometimes it seems like there is a double standard. Look at threads for other amps that are late, and you'll see lots of encouragement and love instead of the negativity we got. People started lambasting us pretty early on. I guess it doesn't really matter in the long run because we keep selling out of them. I like to think that our customers are actually playing their amps instead of posting about them on TB.
I didn't feel lots of negative vibes in this thread overall. I guess a lot of sceptcism came from the insane delay between announcement and release date. Even when you guys were ready to hit the market, the date got pushed back a couple of times. The competitors products hit the streets rather quickly, hence less scepticism upon release.

The reason I ask is because my one " large" cab is 4ohms but I often need to run more. With my SM 12.0 I can run both the Berg 212 + 112 for more volume. I have run 4 12's a few times for a 2 X 4 ohm load with the SMax. Also the Subway D800 does 2 ohms as does my old BX500 which I plan to sell. So I do have a need for the ability to do at least 4+ 8 ohms loads. Whatever ohms that comes out to, it's too late to remember right now.
So can I do that with this amp?

Yea, 2.67. That's it, that's the ticket. But nutdog says no and I would guess if the manual says 4, bbbybld will too, since he likely wrote it. Haha

The Mini Mega has one stereo module as its power section ... the PV1000 stereo module is strapped to mono to run 4 ohms total load at 1000 watts .
To do so, each channel of that stereo PV1000 is running at 2Ωs. So if you drop your overall load to 2.67Ω. It will have each channel of the PV1000 running at less that 2Ω.
You are getting close to a dead short. . I dont think it is a great idea.

Oh man thats probably my next cab with 3015's. Which tweeter driver did you go with? Would you order another exactly like it or would you change anything about it?
I'm running mine through a pair of Hartke 4x10 Hydrives and have to dial the lows back to 10:00 or it overpowers everything in the room.
With my church band I use it through an old Peavey Databass with the electronics gutted and it sounds great. Crystal clear and warm at moderate volumes.
I'm still learning how to use the eq's but I just can't get enough rehearsal time.
Anyone want to by my old LH 500?.

Honestly, I am the third owner of this cab. It was originally built for TB member Kringle77 who owned it for a very short time, and he sold it to a buddy of mine (who I convinced to buy it because I knew I would end up with it eventually..LOL) who lives about 30 minutes from me. The tweeter is an APT and the speakers are 3015s. It sounds great and I wouldnt really change anything about the cab....BUT I am not really very picky about cabs like a lot of TBr's. The most important thing for me was that it weighs 70 lbs and has kickback casters and a pull-bar.
Well, I scooped up a miniMega last night used for $450. Tested it out on my pair of Hartke Hydrive 112's. This head has some Oooomph. I can see why you'd need to roll back the lows a bit. I'll gig it thru my Hydrive 810 this Friday at Wisconsin State Fair. I dont see much need for the Kosmos unless you want to cause collateral damage. I tested it in the store thru a 410 Warwick cab and the clerk came by and said "Lets crank it up, just for research purposes". Had is set flat and volumes set to 3 o'clock (about 80% of max). It was just stupid loud. The impressive part was that it didnt distort or break up, just clean power.
OK, that makes sense. Would be cool since there are 2 output jacks if it could be switched between dual mono and bridged...
I really love what the MM1000 does with my BF Gen 2, BT-T; it's got 2x3012LF's/6"mid/Tweeter. But I used the MM with my now rarely gigged, Ampeg SVT212AV cab this past Sat's gig. Really like what the MM did with that cab + vintage blonde, MIM DAJ-5. And I was able to roll up the bass knob to just past noon finally. YAY!
