Peavey MiniMega 1000

"Preorder today. Order expected October 5." Sigh..... :meh:

LOL! I hear you Man.....

Not sure that I would be interested in the cabs but my ears were perked up regarding both amps. Not gonna pre-order though. I'd have to try before buying and although it's getting harder to find Peavey gear in stock in my local area, I think I should be able to accomplish a demo...

Someone mentioned an episode of Undercover Boss some posts back. I've never seen the show, but in light of the repeated delays and some comments in this thread, have wondered how things are going at Peavey, generally. A quick google turned up this:

Link Removed

I still haven't seen the episode - don't know that I will - but the article makes for some interesting reading.

I still have the Minimega on order. Musician's Friend still says October 27th... Guess I'll see how things go. The Mesa Subway is pretty much out - unless something drastically unexpected happens, people should have them in hand in a matter of weeks. (BTW, Peavey, you could take a cue from them on the demos - though the main issue, of course, is having a product to demo that people can purchase.) A Genzler amp, is, I imagine, on the near horizon.

I was waiting on the amp before, holding up selling some stuff until I had the Minimega in hand and could make some decisions based on that. Don't know that I'm going to do that now. I'm not going to cancel my order just yet -- if it comes while I'm still interested in having it, okay. If not, we'll let someone else be the first to try.

Ramblings, but in lieu of actual news about the amp, that's what I've got.

I'm not holding my breath, but MF still (last I looked), says 10/27. Let's say that actually happens this time, just for the sake of argument. If so, I find myself torn. Are the delays due to some marketing/bureaucratic misjudgment that, while colossal in scope, will have no effect on the (one hopes high) quality and reliability of the amp? Or will the amp, when it comes out, be hastily and questionably made, with issues unresolved and corners cut in an effort to bring something to market and cut losses? What will long term support through Peavey be like? Perhaps overdramatic speculation, but I wonder.

Another, less concrete thing - do I reward Peavey for this bungled effort over, say, Mesa, who seem to have done everything right in bringing their amp to market? No matter, I think, as Mesa's already been amply rewarded for their efforts in interest and pre-orders.

I'm holding on partly because I've been holding on so long already. Sounds like relationship therapy more than an amp thread. What would a good therapist say in this situation? Maybe, "Find something more important to worry about!"

Gotta talk about it. That an important part of any therapy..... :D

And people say I don't share my feelings.

I just assume that this amp ISN'T going to be released rather than expecting it to be...eventually. If it ever does make it to market and it delivers as so many expected it to long ago then wheeeee!
You know, I think it's influenced other companies even without being released. I imagine that, a year or two ago, the specter of this amp was on the minds of the folks at Mesa and the still nascent Genzler. Probably others.
