Peavey MiniMega 1000

@tombowlus , I was re-reading your New Year's Eve mini-review of the MM/12-3 combo and looked at the photo you snapped. Are the settings in that photo more or less what you used for the night? Looks like compressor, Kosmos, and Crunch off, EQ at noon, Gain a little shy of noon and Volume a little past 3 o'clock. You did mention boosting the two mid bands a bit -- how about the gain and volume settings?

That's where I started, but not where I ended up. I had the volume around 1 o'clock, everything turned off, button-wise, lows at noon, slight low-mid boost (freq. dial set to about 11 o'clock), high-mid boost to about 2 o'clock and set around 2 o'clock on the frequency dial, as well, and highs boosted to about 2 o'clock as well. Please note, these EQ tweaks were for the cabs and for the room. With other cabs, and in other rooms, I've been pretty much leaving the EQ set flat and loving it.

And -- forgive me if this has been addressed already -- can anyone speak to the taper of the controls? Do they ramp up quickly, or is the adjustment spread out over a wide usable range?

All the tapers seemed to offer a reasonable range of usable options.

Today is my new favorite amp's birthday:

Peavey MegaBass Club

That just went live on Peavey's web site. I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these. A bunch of us love the original MegaBass, so it's cool to see Peavey bringing the "Mega" name back.

If you're at NAMM, stop by and check it out so you can tell us what you think!!!!

Very excited!

P.S. Here's our club thread for the original Mega:

Does any one know of a excel exb15 20 watt ambassador it's my profile pic I can't didn't it any where

I'm not sure about MF shipments. Normally, I could probably find out, but it's insanity mode right now with everybody gearing up for NAMM. We have had a lot of demand and have been filling backorders. They are out there in stores, so I suggest checking with your local dealer if you want to try one. A lot of the backorders we've filled were store load ins.

The Mini Max power section is basically half of the one used in the Mini Mega. It shares the same performance characteristics, minus some headroom. The preamp/eq is different from the Mega, and comes from the Max combos. It's a lot more traditional Peavey sounding--think Firebass minus the size and weight. Some of the individual circuit sections in the Mega, such as the punch boost filter, started as pieces of the Max combo preamps and were tweaked.

I just got in 4 production Mini Max amps today.

Forgive me if these points have been addressed, but this is a long thread.

Has anyone used the D.I. on this amp? Can anyone comment to the quality of the signal? How about the aux-in -- how's it sound?

Anyone know what the warranty is and whether or not it's transferrable?

Danke in advance,
Mark

I used the DI at our gig, and it performed exactly as you would expect/hope it to.
