Just wanted to throw my tricked out Patriot into the mix here. Just finished it today. This one's been a guinea pig for awhile and I'm not any good with modding. I made a home made pick guard with p route out of 1/8" plywood. It's not perfect but I'm happy with it.

Painted it with rattle can copper paint first then added the iridescent glazes. I've got some coin in the paint alone lol, but it came out more or less like I wanted it to.

I put some emg's that I had laying around in there. I wanted to do that because of the lack of low end of the super ferrite. Maybe it's the wood, dunno. Haven't gotten to test it out yet on a real amp, just a jbl eon. Anyway, here she is:

I let one slip by over a year ago, and then found this one on Craigslist and got it for $50! Previous owner stripped finish and put some brown stain on it, did not look good at all. I sanded the stain off and sanded down to 400 grit and applied tru oil. Built a pickguard out of purpleheart. The neck needs some more work, but it is playable. I want to replace the electronics with something active. Any suggestions?

Here are some pics. Before and after. Well, actually I have taken the bass apart again and added about 10 more coats of tru oil. I'm going to let it cure for about a month and then polish with some 3M Finesse It II. Will post better pics when I get it finished.

Just scored this beauty the other day. She looks like she's only been played for a couple hours in her whole life. I believe she is a 1985 model. Picked her up on Craigslist for 175.00 with OHSC

Will post better pics soon. Love the Patriots.

I have a Patriot guitar which is really nice and was a bargain at $90.

I have 2 T-20's (trying to sell one on CL at the moment) - is there any real difference between a Patriot bass and a T-20 other than the angled pickup on the T-20?

I have this bass, and it too did not appear to have been played much. I also have a towel in the case's body compartment because the foam disintegrated. Looks like yours did the same thing.

Here's my Pet Peave, or Pat the Mistress. Shes my alternative/ backup for my Fender P/J. Monster tone, too. Shes heavey, around 12 pounds on the bathroom scale. A little of case foam was on the back when I got her, but it never bothered me so much that I wouldnt play it. I removed the ring from around the pickup, less stuff in the way as I play.

Plays like slightly old butter. Im taking her in for a professional fret dress and set up this week.

Picked this one up Tuesday for $89 plus my Millineium BXP. I must say though that I'm really gonna have to get used to the tone. I guess I am really found of the tone of both my former Millinieum and my current Foundation. Anyway what type of strings sound best on a Patriot flats or rounds?

It's a very aggressive tone. With a little adjustment you can get some very good usable tones. I personally love the aggressive throaty sounds.
You can warm it up a little by raising the saddles (or lowering the pickup), or adding flatwounds also seems to tame her a little. I think you will find, she sits very well in the mix at a live venue. Congrats!

Thanks. Also is the Patriot considered a P or J. The reason I ask is that I am not into the red color on a bass so I might one day refinish it and might want to change the pickguard but it looks like the single pup is closer to the bridge like on a J

I have an '87 Patriot and a '92 Fury. I ended swapping necks, and they both feel more natural now. Love the P-width neck on the Fury (makes it feel more authentic!), and the Fury neck was a little neck-heavy, so it balances better on the heavier Patriot body.

Here I am after 3 years in the same club again with the SAME bass, I sold this bass 3 years ago because I was stupid, there is no another reason, and I haven't played or owned any bass since then, and this SAME bass came to me in the same shape and everything how I sold it to this guy, so I am very happy to be part of this club and bass community again! ;)

Here is one old record of me playing Deep Purple Burn on this bass, i hope you like it, sorry for some mistakes it's hard to record with latency :/
