Peavey T-40 Club Part 2

that's certainly how I learned it, but advice, the manual, and not having a rod adjustment tool led me to trying the tilt which right or wrong gave me a T-40 101 education, got that pocket finish cleaned out, and I think a slight tweak at the rod and then maybe a slight relief on the wheel will have it 100% where I'll be happy forever. as it is I'm virtually there now and can focus on the rest of it to enjoy the honeymoon.
Well, I've had my T40 for a couple of weeks now and I must say it's what I dreamed it would be. There are so many sounds in this thing! So many that I find myself forgetting how to dial in all the variations. I found a sweet Rickenbacker-ish sound throwing the pickups out of phase (but if I want true Ric tone I'll grab one of the two I have).
It's not as bad to play standing up as I thought it would be but I do plan on investing in a better quality strap.
Very happy I picked this one up. I'm still hunting for an earlier model with the toaster top pickups. My wife is literally going to beat me with one of these heavy beasts.

Congrats on the newfound t40 and for earning the love of a woman capable of welding such a weapon.

Just picked up an early '79 in maple/natural. It's heavy, but I'm fit and I've been known to do 3 sets with a Victory so no big deal for me. I've found a couple of sweet spots for tone in the dials, but the bass seems to lack out put. It's not the quietest passive bass I own, but it's close. I thought these things were supposed to be super hot output-wise?
Check the PU height. Should be about 1/8" from the strings with the E and G fretted at the last fret.
That does sound like a problem. My T-40 has a strong out put as does every other one I've played.
Hmmmm, there is some scratchiness on the bridge pu volume pot, but everything else seems to work as intended. I have a diagram, where should I start?

I like to turn the knob back and forth after applying electonic parts cleaner, but that does require opening it up. Fairly often just turning it back and forth will dislodge whatever corrosion or gunk is fowling up the function of the pot but if I've got the time and inclination I'd rather get the pressurized can of parts cleaner and flush the crap out of the pot.
She's a Squier. I just put a different waterslide on her for looks.
Hi guys. I am picking up my first T-40 next week and apart from my Ric 4 string I only own a couple 5's...one of them my usual workhorse is a '91 Peavey Dyna Bass 5. As I only have mostly 5 string sets, I am in the market for some 4 string sets, so my question to you T-40 owners is what make strings do you guys prefer to use? Sorry if this has been covered already and if so point me in the right direction.
Which Make (Roto's, EB Cobalts etc etc), Type (Rounds or Flats), Gauge (Heavy Light etc). What actually is the standard factory set (gauge?,rounds?) for a T-40? I hope I haven't opened a can of worms..mmm I fear I may have loll

The strings on the bass need replacing as per the sellers pictures, so I wish to purchase a set before bringing the bass home. Thanks to all for any input on strings choice.

I've nylon tapes on one, ghs flats on another, the 5string as of Friday now has La Bella low tension flats. No idea what roundwound are on T40 number 4.
