Does anybody know where (preferably online) I can find a pretty accurate 3-way pickup selector switch?

This (1223) doesn't have the look of the original flat paddle, but it should work...

There's also a company in Europe (Germany, if I remember correctly) that makes exact replacements, but I couldn't find that website. Anyone remember that thread?

As I've posted above, I have a Modulus BaSSStar (graphite) neck that I'd like to try on a T-40 of my son's, and I wondered if anyone had an opinion about string choice for such a setup.

It has DR Black Beauties on it now (with the stock neck), but I thought this would be the time to check out an interesting option. The BBs tend to look crappy after the coating begins to wear off.

Not looking for perfection here, just a solid choice for progressive rock/jazz with a little punk thrown in.

While price isn't an issue for the one set, I can't afford to test everything out there, so, A consensus perhaps?

(edit) Never mind! I should've taken measurements before asking about strings. Talk here of adding a Fender Jazz neck to a T-40 had me thinking this was doable, as I've had the Modulus neck on a Fender before. But while the Mod neck is slightly narrower than a Fenders (those I've compared it to), it is considerably wider (at the pocket) than the T-40's.
Too bad, as the all-black neck would have mated well with the T-40's pick guard.

after shipping after first bid it would be $550 which is steep, i would rather pay 200-300 for one that had been played a little, but it's still cool that one has the plastic still on it, for those who have money to blow.

I'd doubt it's a '79 as stated, though. Eilif's fact sheet says the blade pickups were introduced in '82 or so.

The blade pickups first appeared in 1981 until the bass was discontinued in 1987. Toaster pickups were featured between 1978 and 1980. Mine is a 1981 model with blade pickups.

my quest to join the t-40 club is hurting still. A guy locally wanted to trade my ibanez sr406 for a '78 t-40, and I was supposed to meet him today but his mother in law is in the hospital.

You and Alvaro are correct - it is either a '81 or '82 as the '83 (like mine) no longer had the little white dot next to the tone controls.

blendermassacre - I agree - I bought mine a few years ago on TB for $300 shipped.

There's a nice tobacco burst with rosewood neck that is at $480 with a day to go! I'm just happy to see the basses getting some love and hopefully in the hands of someone who'll play them.

I am in the process of reworking a white 79 T40...came to me with no electronics....all I have been able to find is blade pickups so that is what it is getting. pics shortly...can i get a number?

By the time you add in the rest of the band and vocals you wouldn't be able to tell one from the other. Wonder if they both used the same strings.
