Dude beautiful bass!!! How does she play?

Taking a brief break. Totally digging this bass. Tonal options galore. Sounds great with distortion. The phased sound is fun. It is kinda like the 1981 Lincoln Mark VI Signature Series my wife and I bought last year. Really impractical, kinda ugly and way too much chrome but there is just something about it that reeks of luxury. So many bells and whistles its ridiculous. I think gaudy is the word I am looking for. Its fricken' awesome!

As far as slap goes, I had a tough time finding a good slap tone.

Maybe I'm a noob, but I cannot for the life of me find a good slap bass tone. I played with the exact same strings on a different bass (a Squier actually) and it sounded twice as good, instantly.

How do you guys set your tone knobs for a good slap bass sound?

*I set the tone knobs down with the rest of the bass and grab my Jazz, Alembic or Lakland.

*Not trying to sound like a smart-ass but the T-40 is not much of a a slapper. I can get a decent slap tone but I have trouble with the placement of the front pickup. Definitely better for finger-style funk or playing with a pick.

+1 I love the T-40 for rock and fingerpicked funk, but even though you can cop somewhat of a stingray tone with the bridge pickup, its not an easy bass to slap on.

Well, here she is in all her uncleaned glory. Couldn't wait long enough to shine her up before I took a few quick pics for you all. I know the rule: No pic, no bass!

Only have one construction grip. The neck pocket on the body is poorly shaped and and hangs over the neck (see picture). Is this typical?

Mine is like that as well. That T40 looks brand new. Beautiful, I want one that color.

$400 is a fair price for a near mint t-40 in that color, in my opinion... I see the used up ones go for around $300 all the time...

that's the color I want for my classic rock gig... it's perfect for that

this bass is for sale here, and it has been defretted. $200 bucks. If the defret isn't mangled i'm going to get it.

That's a Siena Burst. I've never seen one with a maple fretboard, but that doesn't mean they didn't make them like that. Probably among the rarest of T-40 colors. Here's a photo of one that went on eBay for $600. I wanted it so bad, but I can't justify that kind of scratch for a want. For $200, I'd jump on that like a...well...I'd buy it

it pretty much is. There was some discussion about it somewhere here on TB when it was up for auction. Especially when the price went through the screen. I think somebody knew somebody, who knew somebody, who listed the auction - and it had only seen the light of day twice: when it was new, and again for the auction photos.

Whoever laid out for that baby, basically bought it right from Peavey...

SO I just bought a t-40 for $300, natural finish etc. It has 2 problems.

1) the pickguard is wavy like the ocean. any fix for this besides buying a repro?
2) the bridge pickup completely stops working when i flip the phase switch down. Could this be anything besides a loose wire?
When I post pics i'll obtain my number.

i think sienna burst looks best on the t-40 IMHO!
