Peavey Tube Head CHEAP in La Mesa

Let's see: I have a '79 SVT (which I just finished restoring and bomb proofing), a '77 V-4B that is my main gigging amp, the head section cloned from a blackface Fender Twin Reverb and next week I'm building a 100 watt Marshall clone with the best parts I could find...

I'll still probably end up at GC tomorrow. :rollno:

I called the San Marcos store, yes they had one left, so I drove up and grabbed it! $399, but still a great deal.
Tried it at home through a couple cabs and it sounds pretty good to me (it's my first-ever all tube bass amp) and LOUD.
I'm looking forward to punishing my bandmates tonight at the gig (we had 'issues' last night).

BTW Munji, I'm using an HT-322 on the gig, I'll post a report.

When I'm not at Groom Lake (Area 51), I'm in San Diego. I'll be real interested to find out how that sounds. Right now I'm too lazy to drag out my HT322 to give it a listen. I'm playing mine through a D210XST in my practice room. Very nice sound. This is also my first ever all-tube amp, but so far I'm digging it. Where's your gig? Dirk's?

Dude! You should've asked them for a price match with their own La Mesa store! Maybe go back and show them the picture I posted in my thread.

That is a solid deal, but the thread is about the Peavey blowout. The Peavey has tubes. Tubes rhymes with b....:D

I went to check out the last remaining VB-2 in my local GC, and it was non-operational. Tried different patchcords, basses, cabs, no sound.

Yeah, Dirk's.

The VB-2 performed great through the Berg HT-322. Lots of power to spare in that room. Basic tone was good but I'll spend some time dialing it in for future gigs (not much I could do onstage). I found that the amp highlighted the differences in my basses more so than my tube pre / SS power rig. No problem at all with a low B string.

Short story is I'm damned happy with it and I'll be keeping it.

Thanks to Dan again for posting this crazy sale item! I am getting it past my wife because I've been blessed with a wife who doesn't know the difference between a Modulus Quantum 6 and a LPB Fender Jazz. She won't even notice my new Peavey VB-2 head. She does know to call my Ampeg 810e "the fridge".

Thanks for the advice and support, my trouble is that the wife has been more than helping the local economy where I live in the home repair and remodeling industry as of late.:rolleyes: I suppose I may consider selling off some of my other musical toys to finance one of these. It shouldn't be hard to raise enough to cover a quick 400 bucks or so when all is said and done.

That's who hooked me up as well. He was pretty incredulous when I told him the price. He then regaled me with tales of horror regarding the Ampeg/Loud fiasco while I waited for him to locate a VB-2. Good times ;) I was considering getting two but the holidays left me slightly drained so I just settled for one :D Looks like these are going quick though. Get one while you can folks!
