Pedal Demos!

Meris Mercury7!

Hi Zachary, that is a very nice sounding Reverb. Great Demo BTW, always love your demos...you are my first go to! I agree about many reverb pedals investing their R&D dollars into too many reverb types and not focussing their effort on making each one sound better. I really like the low pass and high pass filters on the reverb, that's really useful on bass. Great for keeping things clear and "un-muddy" - is that even a word? In fact I think this is the first reverb pedal in a long while that's making one of my H9's look scared on my board at the moment...I'm sure that'll pass!

Besides the Meris reverbs, the H9's are still my favorite. They can go way crazier, but Meris's verbs are just pristine.

Great video as always. Hope you can make one where you going through your latest pedal board set up, something like a bass effects overview v2.
Really appreciate your work.
Cheers
I'm literally getting the last pieces of the puzzle in for that next week! It has been about 2 years in the making. I haven't had a solid built pedal board in a long time. This will be a complete overhaul - new cabling, new board, new pedals, and new philosophy to how I approach the board. Planning on doing a 2 part build video. Part one being the actual build (layout, power wiring, audio wiring, midi setup, etc). Part 2 being an audio run through of what's what and the kinds of sounds available. I'm very excited!

It sounds very exciting! Congratulations on the nearly complete new build!

First board in two years! This thing is insane. I documented the entire build process for anyone interested.

So cool, can't wait to check it out!

As you are "the man who has played everything", I've definitely been curious about what you would consider YOUR board. I recognize some pieces from previous demos and of course the modded OC-2 so this will be fun.

Oh, fun story: years ago I got the Midi MurF and I fooled around with it a bit, didn't get it, put it away. When I got the HX Stomp I was excited to see it a had a (just one, sadly) Moog pedal... the Midi MurF!

At first I was bummed since it is the only Moog pedal I own. BUT - between the HX Stomp's HX Edit interface making it easier for me to understand what was happening and my original instruction manual I came to really dig the pedal. So I will be very interested to hear what YOU do with it!

When I saw your the image of your new build I thought...hmmm what's Zachary doing for modulation? Then I realised you were using the H9. It's amazing how versatile this little box of tricks can be!
It's interesting to see where you are at with your current sound crafting processes. Very much in the "live n Twiddle" scene.

Honestly I don't use modulation too much. I finally realised that after 15 years. But I do have a solid chorus and harmonic tremolo setup on the h9. I like modulation, but not enough for dedicated pedals right now. If the murf doesn't stay, then il probably add a nice phaser back on the board.

Yes, it's all a bit of a journey.
I used to like all my mods in one single box. I found that the big boxes often have one or two mod types that were weaker or not so great. I also find that that I like different types of modulation, spread across different places on my board. Chorus and phasers, just before ambience. Trems, before dirt. Rotaries just after my Octavers (I'm also a big fan of the Hog2). Choppers and filters after my dirt but before Chorus. Currently, I have 4 different pedals that I use for different modulation types. I like to cherry pick my devices.
I've also gone down the "1st half of my board in mono and 2nd half in stereo route".
