Pedal Power Options

Hey guys

I got 11 "9" Volt Pedals & 1 "18"Volt Pedal

Total of 12 Pedals.

What pedal power brick is available that can power all of these
without me getting 2 Bricks

Ive looked at the Digitech V-10 and the Palmer

Im looking for something thats isolated

Cheers

Depends on the draw of each pedal but you can probably go with 1 Voodoo Labs PP2+, use a dasiy chain off one of the 250mA rated jacks for some of the 11 9v pedals. Then you can either take 2 9v's and combine them to get 18v or use the courtesy jack in the back for an 18v supply. You could switch this around to suit your needs. For instance, you could use a 1Spot out of the courtesy jack and daisy chain that (1000mA) and then combine 2 9v outlets for your 18v pedal. If your pedals draw a lot of miliamps you might go for that latter scenario.

Regardless of how you go, it's all doable with just a PP2+, daisy chain cable and perhaps a 1Spot or other Aux Power Supply (read as wall wart). If you want this setup to be super clean, you should look in to the Voodoo Labs Mondo or equivalent.

The carl Martin "Propower" has more total Milliamp out put than the Voodoo labs and is compatible with wall currents from 100Volt (Japan) to 120 (North america) to 240 (Europe Asia)

you will need to get a few extra cables (a series Y cable to get 18V) and a short daisy chains for 2-3 of your pdeals.

MXR also makes a good one the Custom audio MC404 I believe...

To avoid buying two Voodoo Labs units, or one even larger isolated supply, I recommend getting one isolated unit and one daisy chain. That way you can power the compatible pedals together on the daisy chain, and use the isolated supply for the pedals that are not ground-compatible, and this saves quite a bit of money and pedalboard space.

Thank you

Im thinkin of getting the Palmer Power supply with 12 outputs

10 - 9v , 2 -18 v

Is there a Daisy chain available in the market where i can just can Maximum of 2-3 Pedals at a time..cause that will save me a lot of mess on the board..cause i guess the standard chain would be 5 hook ups

The series Y cable only works with isolated outlets, it does not work with daisy chains or non-isolated supplies. But yes, the Digitech outlets are isolated, so it will work there!

As far as a daisy chain with only 2 or 3 outlets, they can be made easily. You could even take a 5-outlet chain and just cut off the unwanted extras, using electrical tape or non-conductive sealant to cover the exposed wire. Or don't cut, just tuck the extras underneath the pedalboard, so they are still usable later on.

Thanks again Bongo

You are the King of this Effects Forum!

That saved me some Bucks! So im gonna Daisy Chain 5 Pedals of the 9V Dc outlet of the V-10 that has Max Milli amps and Use a Voodo lab Y splitter cable to run 2 9v to one 18v Pedal and use the others Direct!

I hope there wont be any problem using the Series Y Cable from Voodo Lab on the Digitech

Since we're on the topic, my Dano FAB chorus has ''no more than 300mA''... Can I still put it in my daisy chain with my 1Spot, which is 1000mA, along my other pedals?

in theory you should be ok, as long as your mA consumption is less than mA provided by the power source. some pedals do have issues & don't play nice in a daisy chain. hard to predict without testing your particular setup.

Yes, it's fine. Pedals will only draw as much current as they need, so all that extra mA doesn't really "exist". 1000 is only what's potentially available to be drawn.

Look no further than the Diago Powerstation. Small formfactor, 3000ma and can be used to power up to 30 pedals. Standard 9v centre negative daisychain comes in the box but Diago have plenty of adapters (12v/18v/centre positive & 9v battery clip) to suit whatever power needs your pedals may have.
Plenty of stockists worldwide and their customer services are second-to-none. Highly recommended.
Have posted a link to the website so have a look:

I've got 2 Gator G-Bus-8's attached underneath my pedal board. I run 13 or 14 pedals and it does just fine.

I carry a heavy duty extension cord and a protected power strip to plug in the 2 Gator's and a few of my heavier processors like to be plugged in all by themselves so that takes care of all that.

If you want to use effects, there is a price to pay in hauling gear!!

Good luck finding one thing to do all you need..........I gave up looking!

I don't understand why, but the T-Rex Chameleon seems to escape a lot of power supply posts. Obviously you can look it up, but here is what I got and how I do it.

12 pedals w/5 power outputs, 300mA available per output:

Output 1- 202.5mA (~90 mA to spare)
Zvex Woolly Mammoth .5 mA
Okko Basstard ~25mA
Boss DS1 5 mA
Boss MT2 30mA
Snark SN-10 100mA
Ibanez Weeping 35mA
Nose Little Looper ~0
Aguilar Octamizer 7mA

Output 2 & 3 (using a current doubler)- 500mA
Markbass Compressore

Output 4- 95 mA (~200 mA to spare)
Nose FB Deluxe ~0
Ibanez FL9 20mA
Seymour Duncan Deja 75mA

Output 5- 300 mA
EHX Small Stone
EHX Holy Grail

The Chameleon also an output (output 4) that's capable of 18v. Also, the current draw values are what's required when the unit is ON. My board is a baritone/bass hybrid, I won't be mashing the MT2 along with the Okko so they won't both be PULLING their rated current draw. So you can technically stack beyond the output current so long as you dont have every pedal on, which you may, but just know your current draw values and you can build it! I use Godlyke, Voodoo and Visual Sound adapters for everything I needed that didn't come with the unit. I genuinely can't understand why this thing is not shutting the Voodoo pp2 down.......
