Pedals you wanted ...until you tried them.

Catalinbread Bicycle Delay: I loved it for a few days but it spends too much time in crazy land and can't double as a normal delay. Very creative pedal but didn't suit me needs.

Source Audio C4: The best tracking and sounds I've ever experienced out of a synth pedal, but I don't think anything out there can de-thrown my Moogs and my OC-2.

Honorable mention of a pedal I did not purchase but had the opportunity to try at Chicago Music Exchange: Original Maestro Brassmaster. This was probably the thinnest sounding fuzz/distortion I've ever plugged a bass into.

I really wish Moog would have made an octave Moogerfooger. Honestly I am surprised they didn’t.

Ampeg SCRDI. It distorts in a very unpleaseant way if I play the low B on my hot basses or if I raise the bass in the onboard pre even a little bit. If I move the jumper in the pedal to lower the imput sensivity it just kills the tone quality. Too bad, because I liked how the pedal sounds when it doesnt distort. And this is not just my unit because many users report the same problem in their reviews.

Boss OC-3
Dr Scientist The Elements
Barbershop
Empress Multidrive
3Leaf products
Darkglass VMT (I’m on my 3rd one because I’m convinced I love it, but rarely use it...sigh)

My gear evolves, along with my tastes...some pairings end up being less favorable...I move on to the next pedal (or a previous discard). Bass pedals are rarely available in music shops here, I rely too much on video reviews...usually a mistake, but not always

Fairfield Accountant - I so wanted to like it, especially after Bongo's review, and it was the only serious 1590A compressor at the time, but I just couldn't dial in anything that worked for me. I'm much happier with the pigtronix and wampler mini comps.

Earthquaker Pitch Bay - hated the warble, which somehow seemed less obvious in the demos.

EHX HOG / POG - hated that digital polyphonic sound. It sounded better in the demos but was just screechy in person. Even as a church organ emulation, it's a harsh sound.

I mostly get along with the Mothership2, but it works better for me on g***ar.
IE Subterranea remains my bass synth of choice - raw, direct and to the point.

Yep.....I just sold my 3rd vmt

TAFM, too compressed and didn't like clean blend. I use a Mountainking Heavy Machine instead for what I was going for.

Mantic Flex, too crazy, not practical at all.

Gnomeratron, to many options, hard to dial in a really good sound. Really neat idea though.

oh jeez, so many.
Most notable from the top of my head

Dr Scientist Bitquest - its honestly such a great pedal and does so much but i couldnt really find a single sound i wanted to use that wasnt done better with another pedal.

JHS Colour Box - again, great pedal, however i didnt like the character of the distortion and it was quite tough for me to get it to not distort with my bass. Great EQ but ultimately i didnt feel it was worth the money.

Most Darkglass pedals - Nothing against DG at all, but i found the B and Vintage series sounded quite artificially layered with the clean tone, especially when my bass strings became duller. I enjoyed the Alpha Omega and I liked the X7 when i tried it.

Tech 21 YYZ - just not my taste really, i love Tech 21 and i know alot of people are very happy with it.

Coloursound Bass Fuzz - ive owned a few, I LOVE how synthy it can sound and how much bass there is on tap, but the mid-scoop was the killer. Totally disappeared in a heavy mix.

Drybell Unit 67 - I've still got it and havent put it for sale. The compressor is really cool if you are someone who just wants some unobtrusive compression, it works really well and is very simple. The Eq is okay, the Range dial is nice for some crunchy mids. I've been using it on my Sterling SUB Ray, which already has a hot output and 2 band EQ, so the Unit 67 is kinda obsolete. I'm going to give it a go with my Mustang guitar, which are kinda known for having thin and weak pickups and with my sloppy playing the compressor will come in super useful.

I could literally go on all day but this will do for now. I always do some research before purchasing, so its rare that i get a pedal that isnt fit for purpose but I've noticed that some people have more tolerance for low end loss than me and sometimes some things just arent a good it.
