Penn Gillette playing RIC on TV

I did a search for Atheist Bass Club and the thread was closed in 2010.
Must we hide in the shadows? I'm an atheist and I play bass. I'm also a husband, a teacher, and an all-around nice guy 85% of the time.
I've heard it's allready been done, but it was shut down by the mods... And yet, the praise & worship-threads are still going strong. Can't imagine why...
Maybe because the P&W club (theoretically) includes people who play bass for their Shul, Mosque, Ahsram, or Atheist temple where the heathens gather weekly to smoke pot and watch Invader Zim.
At least, that is how the P&W club should be IMHO. I haven't checked it out because after 21 years on this planet, I know enough to avoid going where I do not belong.
No need to at all. There is an Atheist bass player club in the TB lobby, but that is only for supporting members. There isn't an atheist bassist club for the same reason why there isn't a christian bassist club. It will only lead to bad things.
As a Christian, I can amen that.

Penn is just pure awesome. I mean he is a master illusionist/magician, ridiculously intelligent, a hardcore libertarian, outspoken with his beliefs and opinions in general, and a freaking bass player (both Upright and Electric). Other than the atheist part, I can't find a reason to love the guy more. He's definitely welcome to jam at my place.
As for the Ric joke earlier, it could be a similarity in how both can be extremely defensive about their opinions/beliefs, but honestly, I think it was just a surface joke for a little zinger.
He doesn't drink at all and doesn't do any drugs.
He is also a great guy to talk to after his shows. I have seen him a couple of times and Penn AND Teller run out of the show and hang with the fans for pics and autographs. Funny to see people weirded out that Teller talks like crazy when out of character.
Actually, as a Christian, that's the BEST reason to love the guy more.
I remember the King Of The Hill episode in question... right after the end of that clip, the pastor's father shows up, rips off his shirt to reveal the Ten Commandments tattooed on his back, and says, "Son, have you forgotten number 5? If the man doesn't want his kid praising like you, IT'S COOL." It was a big surprise to see that kind of thoughtfulness put forth by the creators of Beavis and Butthead.

The second vid of Penn on upright was fantastic. The carbon fiber thing sounded like @ss lol.
Atheism bothers me just as much as any other Fundamentalist faith...absolute certainty of ANYTHING is ridiculous coming from a species of hairless upright bipeds (homo sapiens) whom only managed to crawl out of caves 12,000 years ago.
Im fairly certain theres a Prime Mover, as Aristotle postulated. But again, absolute faith in any one school of thought is fanaticism...and therefore problematic for all the other hairless apes who don't subscribe to whichever brand of fanaticism being proscribed at the moment.

Atheism is not a faith at all...much less a fundamentalist one. My atheism is not absolute certainty, but simply a manner of reasoning where I seek evidence for conclusions I draw about the world around me. Of course there are things have yet to be proven - but in the absence of proof, strong and convincing evidence by deductive reasoning is usually good enough.
Atheists should't bother you any more than people who don't believe in the existence of Santa Claus, or the Tooth Fairy.
I don't seek to change anybody's mind about the existence of god. But I also don't understand how people can partition their minds to be reasonable in one sense and totally faithful in another.
