People who make noises when they play....

I make sounds while playing, but the music hides it. Not so much the smell.

Actually it is not sounds during the performance , but noodling before the performance that drives me bonkers. I was trained that once you walk out on stage, you make NO noise until the song kicks of. Same for between songs.

Those that noodle, I pray God smite them hip and thigh.

Played with a drummer in the 70's who always hummed along to the lead vocal which was really off-putting to the lead singer and we other 2 guys who added the harmony. He was tone deaf and couldnt hold a tune at all. Luckily he only ever did it at band practise but in the small room we used the humming would bleed through my mic as I was that close to his kit. He never realised he was doing it till we told him one night and credit to the guy, he never did it again. It was really horrible and even now when I think of it I cant help but smile.

Bad thing about him he used a headset mic and hummed while we played out. It was a high pitched whine and we all thought for a few minutes it was feedback from the system lol

What kind of music are you playing that enthusiastic vocalization throws you off? I play in a blues band where we yell at each other all the time. Sometimes it's the only way we know when to change or solo as the leader can be quite random at times.

This is really getting to be one of my biggest pet peeves, people who make noises when they play.

A drummer I have known forever hums the song as he plays, humming in an unusual harmony. You can't hear the humming unless we've isolated the drums during recording playback. He is always on pitch and in a harmony that disappears in the mix. Quite unusual. But he knows every song, every melody and bass part. And drum part.

Yeap, it took me a while to concentrate on what he was actually playing. Once I started to just hear the music I became a fan and now I don't even notice the noises.
