Pet-names for you gear?

My first bass my friends and I named Chaos, because we thought it was cool (we were teenagers).

My Ibanez 4001 copy is (the) Faker, for obvious reasons.

Unless I think of something better, or am informed that it had a previous name, I've decided to name my fairly recently acquired Mesa D-180 Killdozer.

Earlier I mentioned how this isn't a practice I usually engage in. And yet, looking at this thread after last night's bump, I decided to name my green Washburn XB-500 "Jade." At first it was a fleeting thought, but it kept coming back. I guess that's her name now.

Edit: Even this was bugging me, so I looked up what the mineral itself was like, and the color is far too different a shade. "Emerald" is a closer fit, and she didn't seem to mind my mistake too much.

i have a name for one of my basses.. the others are called "the purple bass" or "the walnut bass.."

the best nickname for any gear ever, is the case bootsy used to keep his pedalboards in back in the 70s, was nicknamed "R2funku" according to that one interview from..'79 (?)

About 9 years ago.

The difference is now we know it's cheesy and find it humorous. When I was 13, we were completely serious in thinking that it was a good name.

The amp is named killdozer because the idea of a killer bulldozer is funny and the corniness of it is amusing. It's also a reference to what a guy on here said about Cliff Burton's tone: "I've never been a fan of that bulldozer bass sound."

My bass's name is Avery. I played in a band called Pillar of Autumn, and we won a guitar in a Battle of the Bands, so we named the guitar Keyes (You'll have to be a super nerd to understand the connection, but I want to see if anyone can get it lol)

Nice Halo references, Dubadays ;) . Avery as in Avery Johnson, correct?

So here's me attempting to outgeek you. I name my instruments after female game characters -- can you spot the references?

My guitar, an ESP Viper with jungle camouflage finish, is called Morrigan.
My first bass, a transparent red Peavey International which I got shortly after Morrigan, is called Lilith.
And my current bass, a natural black Ibanez SR4005e, is called Misery.

I named my rig "ΣĐĢΣĶЯܧĦΣЯ" after the Fear Factory song.
Seemed fitting since the 1st line of the song is:

♪♫ "Conceived in a hell beyond your depth of perception
Chaotic case of conquering domination" ♫♪












Yeah... I know... I'm a total artard. :rollno:
