I didn't know that, I didn't like the other de-spectorized album, Let It Be Naked.
Violence against women should never be tolerated. Let’s agree on that.
Goons with guns and paid thugs should never be tolerated and I guess there's a good reason we don't go around "naked"Unjustified violence towards ANYBODY should never be tolerated.
He was a grade A scumbag, easily one of the worst people ever involved in the music industry...and that’s saying something.
Cool that he was involved in some important recordings, but no one should be mourning his death. Sorry, not sorry.
Was his son a psychologist? That word gets thrown around a lot but there are certain criteria to be diagnosed with it. He was definitely nuts, that much is for sure, sociopaths just have no conscience, there are plenty of successful sociopaths in the business and political world that aren't violent.
The guy was a huge factor in music production. People can claim that anyone could have created the sounds he did, but they didn't - he did. It was quite a big thing at the time and he was a sought after producer for a while. Maybe it sounds dated and nasty now, but at the time, that sound made people's careers.
Spector was also a murderer and he was sentenced to 16-to-life for his crime. He died in prison. That is also a fact.
Being a bad person does not erase whatever achievements that they did. He ended up paying for his crime. That is no solace for his victim's family, but it is what it is. Hell, I still think Bill Cosby was one of the best comedians in my lifetime even though he is an imprisoned convicted rapist. I still listen to some of his older comedy records and laugh my butt off. William Shockley was a vile racist, a horrible person, but that does not negate the fact that he invented the transistor, won the Nobel Prize for his work on something we all use daily.
People are human and flawed. Some make serious errors for whatever reasons. Some may be plain evil to the core. However, while it might seem convenient to try to erase a person's legacy, it is not really being honest with history.
Almost. 19 years to life was the 2003 sentence.People are nasty to each other enough, & hadn't Spector served his time?
Musically, few things sound as good on my early 60s single dash speaker AM radio as his stuff.
To excuse the wall of sound ignores the context of the time.
