My dream 3 bass arsenal is out of my financial reach, and in the case of the Zon, probably impossible.

Nordstrand NX7, bolt on, swamp ash body, wenge neck, birdseye maple fingerboard with huge abalone blocks, and some kind of sick top.

Zon Sonus Custom fretless 7 with extended cutaway and 28 positions, sick redwood burl top.

Low End Jazz 7 with Geddy Lee color scheme.

Yep, that would do nicely!

Hmm... does this mean selling the Stingray and Jazz is the sensible thing to do? I can do Stingray and Jazz with the Bongo and P-J resp. However, the P-J has flats...

Fender Jazz bass - Classic growly tone. Just my kind of sound.

Rickenbacker 4003/4001 (With after-market bridge) - Does one thing but does it very well. Had to have one after hearing "2112" and "Hemispheres".

Carvin LB-70 w/soapbar humbucker - I love my Carvin bass. I've had it for years and its treated me well. Very diverse bass. Fat punchy tone with humbucker soloed full on.

I posted in this thread about a year ago (March '07). I'm changing my answer to:

- My Line6 Variax 705 five-string (for recording)
- Something 6-string and sturdy for touring, like a Modulus Quantum 6, a Zon Sonus Custom 6, or a Status Smartbass (wish it came in a 6!)
- An MTD 635 just for fun

If I could have four, the fourth one would be a fretless MTD 635, and if I could have a fifth one, it would be a carved upright.

Hmmm...

Ibanez GWB fretless (you just touch it and it makes "that sound")

Lightwave fretless (can sound so deliciously close to an upright bass)

Pedulla Thunder fretted (sounds so wonderful, yet you'd never mistake it for a "P" or "J" or "MM" or "Rick". Nothing wrong with these basses, I just like to sound different from the industry standards when playing fretted).
