Pickguard for a sunburst bass?

My jazz is a brown sunburst with a white pickguard. I'm not too keen on the stock white, so I'm looking for a different kind to put on it. One guy at a shop told me gold would look good on it but I'm not too sure about that. Looking for something that will compliment the bass but not stand out (Like a guy I know who had a neon green guard on a red j bass). What do you think would look good? Open to all suggestions.

EDIT: Sorry if this thread's not in the right place, I'm not sure where it would go.

You can put a tort on, but only if you want to look like EVERY SINGLE jazz bass or precision bass from 60s and early 70s. Black looks good, and also try experimenting a little with something unique, or look up images on the internet.

White is terrible with sunburst, never understood why manufacturers even do this.

I'm not a fan of white on burst either. I do like white on most colors though.. Candy apple red, gold, black, LPB, sonic blue.. actually I can't think of a color white doesn't look good on to me.. even white on white looks slick.. just not burst, lol. And if you have a burst w/ white pg bass and I've offended you, you should change your pickguard! (Kidding of course) I'll tell ya what though, mint w/ sunburst is the holy grail of clash to my eyeballs!

Black tolex.

I'm partial to tort on a burst with a rosewood neck. But I think gold anodized looks good with a maple neck. Black works well with an ebony neck. Just my preferences. Good luck with your selection.
