played one in a shop a few months back...didn't know a fender p could play so well.
Im not inspired by "celebrity" basses but I'd pay to get simulated Pino Mojo anytime.

I've played two. (Don't own one yet)
I've owned about 10 early to mid-60's P-basses,(original fenders)
The "Pino" fender is as close to an original 60's P-bass, I've ever played.
Sound, feel, weight, tone.
Yes, the are expensive. (around $3000.)
But a custom colored "real" 60's P-bass would be close to $10,000.)
The "Pino, and the CS relic "Jaco" bass are, to me, the best basses fender are making right now?
If I had the money now, I would buy a "Pino" in a heart beat.
I have one and IMO a P is a P though some are better than others. The 'feel' of the bass is really nicely worn in and comfortable. Soundwise? IMO my Pino P sounds pretty much like it could be a regular Alder/RW P bass.
I was enjoying playing my P Plus more than the Pino. I didn't even like the colour that much and came close to selling it.
But recently, I decided to give it the full treatment and put on some chrome covers and also swap the strings for TI Flats (they are supposed to come shipped with TIs but mine didn't).
It now has a much better vibe and with the chrome, the dark pink looks really cool and has vintage mojo in spades. What a glorious design the P bass is when it's wearing it's chrome!
But the sound... yes, good but not that much better (if at all) than another good P. I have a set of Fralins lying unused and I'm considering a switch from what I think is the standard Fender vintage pickup.
I've never played a real vintage so I don't know just how different a real 62 could sound, but for now I think my vintage P bass GAS is on hold whilst the Pino is around.
