Too bad someone decided to mar the front face with a bunch of screw holes.
How about a first-generation Duff McKagan signature Fender? Or, if you can find one, there’s always the bass that inspired the Duff-sig, a Japanese Fender Jazz Bass Special.I am looking for recommendations for a solid white bass, preferably passive.
This is maybe the best PJ I’ve owned, on par with my 1984 MIJ PJ-555

Yes it’s very reasonable and probably why many players get a PJ. How it sound depends on the bass. I have a fender Ultra which has a really strong single coil so none of the balance problems often seen on other PJs. That said, a Fodera PJ will have a wider range but not necessarily the P sound you’re looking for. Time to get out there and try them. Good luck!I am interested in joining this club, but I’ve honestly never owned a PJ bass. I was always a Jazz guy, but recently I got a Fender CS P and have been using that a lot. I’ve really started to see why it’s so widely used.
So I’ve been thinking of getting a PJ to supplant my Jazz bass. Commuting to the P, but having the Jazz to add in a little snap on the songs that need them. Is this reasonable? What is the PJ sound?
What is the PJ sound?
