PJ on a jazz body.

I love the look of that bass but don't dig on the J neck… Everything else is great! Candy Apple Red, 63/64 PJ pups, bound and blocked neck…. J necks just feel like a toothpick in my hand. Okay maybe not that bad, but you know what I mean.

Further proof that everyone has their preference, be it esthetic or practical. No one's right or wrong, it's a matter of finding what's most comfortable in your hands. Personally, after trying more than a few over the past couple o' years, not only do I prefer Jazz necks, but my hands really take to a tighter radius. The standard 9.5" radius Fender Jazz necks feel just fine, but my Fender Aerodyne's 7.25" radius feels even better. Which, by the way, is an example of a P/J Jazz Joshuadriller was looking for.

I'm also planning on turning a Mighty Mite blue-burst Jazz body into a P/J configuration…once the darn thing gets out of "Backorder Limbo".

It's made by my friend, so not an authentic Fender. Here are some specs, if someone is interested to know:

- Highway one body
- Allparts neck
- Duncan vintage PJ pickups
- Badass II bridge
- Fender tuners
- Originally sunburst

I like the idea a lot. I've played p basses with a pj setup and liked them. The punch you get from the J combined with the girth of the p is pretty nice. The only jazz i currently own is fretless though and i tend to mainly use the bridge pickup so maybe its something ill down the road.

I got an FSR made in Japan PJ75 and love it. The Jazz body and neck are my favourite, and now I can get all the P sounds.

I was looking into doing this, jazz body, p neck, p pup, but the jazz neck pup is higher than the P sweet spot isn't it?

The only thing to keep in mind about PJ basses is the hum coming from the bridge pickup. For this reason it is better to use a hum-free pickup like a DiMarzio Ultra Jazz for example.

For purely aesthetic reasons, I've never like the p/j configuration on a Jazz body.. It has always looked strange to me.

Not slamming anyone's choice of instrument here. I'm sure they play and sound phenomenal! For me it just looks "wrong"..

I agree with Mark . Maybe because we don 't see them very often. I have 3 p bodied p / Js and like the look and tones of those.
