Double Bass PJB Flightcase & Wizzy 10 comments

I'm following the Heinz ketchup plan - you can violently shake or just let gravity and a bit of encouragement work it out.
Frank - I'm finding that either the LMII greatly under quotes its power or everyone else, it seems - over quotes. Without any science behind my testing, it appears that the LMII has more volume capability than my iAMP800. It surely did have more than my WW Ultra (1200 watts.)

I'm finding the same thing regarding the MarkBass. I was a bit more concerned that the Micro 300 couldn't come close volumewise to my POS Behringer 300 watt head. Not sure if it's a class D vs. class AB thing or if EA was a little optimistic in their wattage rating on the Micro.
That's why I'm hoping to hear from some Clarus owners. I know the Clarus is 500w at 2ohms, but there's only a 75w difference between the Clarus and Micro at 4ohms so I figure that would be a fair comparison.

Frank - I used to own AI heads. Really nice stuff. Again, though, not in the same power class as the LMII. I think the Micro's 300 is about normal for the industry...maybe a little light, but not much. Great tone though...
jmmcc - You might want to wait a bit and try the soon to arrive PJB 6B Neo Power cabinets. This might be a case where neo drivers have improved sound over the traditional.

To try, it will be a real problem since there are no dealers in my country, so my choice will be based on Price vs. Power vs. Versatility vs. Weight ( the 4b is a bit heavy but…
on the sound quality I’m relying on the reviews already found and read all over the internet, but it will always be a surprise. Btw I had ordered the clarus based on all the good reviews on this forum, there is no dealer here either.

Great reviews, Martin! I eagerly await the delivery of both a Flight Case and a Wizzy 10 (or two). 
Reefer certainly has a lot of WW experience and likely more than me - but that's what I found with DB using LDS and EA cabinets.
A dealer told me 1 to 2 months. Another insider said this summer. Yet a third said the date was not set. I would like to believe it would be by the end of August...see Invalid Link Removed for pictures.
I wonder,if there would be something coming out to replace the Suitcase?

When you say the Flightcase tilts down when you are carrying it, you mean outwards, towards the speaker end? It seems to me that putting the handle in the middle would have been a pain anyway with a depth of over 15".

Is the Flightcase one channel only? I can't tell from any specs or photos but it appears to be - bummer if so.
Yes - definately 1 channel. Front to back, its more like 16". But it's very easy to carry. For me, it's a toss up on carrying either the Flightcase or the EA backpack. But they really do sound different. Volume capabilitiy goes to EA. Tone - that's for you to decide.
Brought out the Flightcase again on the same gig...this time with a MusicMan Stingray 5 string BG. This worked a lot better. While the drummer and guitarist/singer are volume sensitive, I had all the tone and gain I needed with the Flightcase. It was set to about 70% of max based on the position of the volume control. This tells me that the last test using a Steinberger with old batteries was not very accurate (duh). I still think the Wizzy10/Micro300 rig will go louder, but the PJB tone is richer. Now I can count on the PJB to cover just about any DB needs and my small gig BG situations as well. If I hooked to a PA, I could do even more...
The two up-firing drivers in the Flightcase's design are intriguing, to me at least. On a crowded stage, right on top of your amp, you would arguably be able to hear yourself better I would think. You get two drivers (up), and the audience gets two drivers (front) plus the ambient effect reflecting off the ceiling (perhaps ...).
Has this been your experience? And are there other benefits (or disadvantages) to those up-firing drivers?
